Looks like we may have a connection Natalie.
My GGgrandmother was Emeline Eleanor Merritt
b. Caistor Twp., Lincoln Co., ONT, SEP 1844 ,
daughter of John and Rachel Merritt of Caistor Twp
This is all I have so far on Emeline or Eleanor Merritt. Other then whom she married on down. I do know that her parents were John and Rachel Merritt but I have just started to research her, I am trying to find a good source to order through the family history center, maybe a census or birth record from canada, I will let you know what I find.

What info do you have Gilbert Franklin Merritt, and whom was he to you? Where did he settle? Emeline married and moved to Flint, Michigan were she raised a large family.
