I am Patrick's ggg grandchild. I don't know much about the Carroll family. Last couple years I have been reuniting with them and learning that they are also reuniting with each other. We are holding a new annual family reunion in Tillsonburg ontario next to the Carroll trail that was build in July this will be the third one. A couple of us are looking for Patrick's grave. Would u know where it is ? I herd it was in the cemetery in simcoe but I have not yet located it when I have gone.

William's second given name is Cluff, I think it is possible that his father's mother might be Catherine Cluff.
I have no knowledge of Patrick Carroll having a marriage other than his marriage to Anna Beemer. Anna is my gg grandmother through her son Philip Henry Hughes from her first marriage to the elusive Joseph Hughes.
Anna and Patrick Carroll had 4 children together, 3 sons and one daughter.

According to a family account, the McDonald brothers were from Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, Ireland and came to Norfolk Co by way of Baltimore in 1837. Michael and Margaret farmer at Windham & were closely associated with the RC church there. She married James Casey (son of Ryan and Mary (Smith) Casey; widower of Martina McDonald), born in Ireland on 25 Mar 1848, died in 1936. They were buried in LaSalette Cemetery, Windham Twp.

Hi James, I feel your pain...I found the family name of Powers in Emmette, Michigan. Big Irish settlement. My uncle, Francis Cogley's grandparents are Powers....also if you follow this family they will lead you to Ohio.
I'm looking for "McDonalds" families from LaSalette, my great-aunt, Mary Kiernan married Thomas McDonald. Mary's uncle is Rev Corcoran priest at the church in the late 1800's, Out Lady of LaSalette. The information I'm looking for a what year/ship that Mary & her brothers, cousin came to US or Canada. I located Mary & Patrick in Canada or Michigan around 1887 but can't find them before that. Also the land that Mary & Thomas McDonald once owned by Ed McCarthy...which happen to be Mary Kiernan McDonald future brother in law. How do I find land records from LaSalette in late 1800's or early 1900's?

Joseph Sweet married to Amelia Bottomley Tucker

Searching for information about Joseph Sweet. Known to be in Townsend, Norfolk, Ontario as of the 1861 census. He was married to an Amelia Bottomley Tucker. Amelia was the widow of Nathan Tucker. Two Tucker children, Phebe Ann and Martha were born in the USA. Joseph and Amelia had three children: Amelia Bell, b. 1857, William H. b. 1859 and Joseph b. 1862.

Amelia shows up as a widow in the 1871 census. I'm assuming Joseph died sometime between 1862 and 1871.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have more information concerning your Reeves - Adams connection. Elizabeth Sophia Reeves Adams was a daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Woodward) Reeves. I am also a descendant of the Woodward family of St. Williams.

Reeves, Elizabeth Sophia (daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Woodward) Reeves), born at Broadtown, Wiltshire Co., England on 29 Aug 1837, baptized at the Primitive Methodist Church, Brinkworth, Wiltshire. She married at Vittoria on 12 Jan 1862,2 Frederick Adams (son of George and Elizabeth Adams), born at Chatham, Ontario on 29 Oct 1840.

Elizabeth and Frederick Adams were in the 1871 Census of Charlotteville Township then found in the 1880 Census of Greenbush, Alcona Co., Michigan.

They had an infant buried in Newkirk Cemetery: Elizabeth Sophia Adams, born on 29 Mar 1869, died on 18 Apr 1869. She was buried in Newkirk Cemetery, St. Williams, Walsingham Twp.

From Canada - I am a great-great grandchild of Alfred Robinson. His daughter Ellen (Helen)Robinson married Sydney Armstrong, whose daughter, Eva Adele Armstrong, married my father Alphons Swinne, and I was their only child, Elsie Elisabeth Swinne (m. Andre Jean-Marc Lalonde - deceased 1991, age 57). I have been doing family history research and once I get more info from the past would be willing to share.

PS - I live on a large island in North Eastern Ontario, St. Joseph, but my childhood, teens and 20s were spent in Norfolk/Haldimand County (includeds Walsingham) and visited much of the family.

On July 8, 1868 (Mt), Hannah E. Blair married Andrew Jesse Finch in Norfolk Co. Hannah was 19, of Walpole, & born in Peel Co. Andrew was 24, of Townsend & born on Jan. 2, 1843 (or Dec. 10) in Trafalgar Twp., Halton Co. to Wallace Finch and Barbara English. His son, James’ marriage registration had him born in Hagervill. The marriage was performed by Joel Riddick and the witnesses were Robert Riddick and Isak Dougherty, both of Townsend. Andrew had previously been married to a Mrs. Carpenter who died with the birth of his son Wallace on Oct. 10, 1866 in Townsend Twp.

As a post script to my previous message...I have an Eliha Estabrook II b <1728> ENG who mar to Sarah HAMMOND in 1778 New Brunswick CAN. She was born 1739 in Marblehead, Essex Cty., MASS. He was her 2nd husband and they both died in New Brunswick. Her great grandson is John Murphy b Norfolk Cty ON who married the Elizabeth Kniffen mentioned in the previous post.

I think I descend down from her son Thomas to his son Thomas...then I get lost to James Hubbard Hobart b <1572ish>? Anyways...then I find common names in Elgin County, ON. This Duncan McCall of Sommerset is the s/o Donald McCall and Elsie Simpson, right. Duncan mar Jemima Fairchild my 5th great grand aunt. Duncan's sister Elizabeth Emmet McCall mar Noah Fairchild UEL, Jemima's brother. Noah and Elizabeth's dau Sarah Ann mar Henry Kilmer who had Sarah Jane who mar Charles Edward Jones Murphy. These are my 2nd great grand parents. C.E.J. Murphy's mother is Elizabeth Kniffen who is the 3rd great grand daughter of Samuel Kniffen and Mary Purdy. Mary Purdy descends from Naomi Cooke/Cox and the same James Hubbard b <1572> Mendlesham, Suffolk, ENG that I started with. There was 1 female under 5, 1 male over 60, 3 unmarried females 14-45 and 1 female over 45. One person of the household was absent.

A Long Point Settlers Genealogy
On 16 Oct 1817, a charge was brought against Benjamin B. Buck and Miram Herman for living in a state of adultery and the London District Court ordered that a bench warrant be issued to apprehend and bring them to the next Assizes. The couple were indicted for living in a state of adultery on 16 Nov 1817 and bonds posted for the appearance of Miram Herman to answer an indictment found against her and to appear and answer at the next Assizes. Miram posted a £50 bond, Matthias Steele £25, and Christopher Oakes £25. Benjamin B. Buck was left in the custody of Caleb Wood, Constable. On 13 Jan 1818, B. B. Buck put up a bond of £50, and Leonard Clouse and Josiah Rice each put up a recognizance of £25 at the next Assizes of the London District Court.

Census records for Cynthia Buck, daughter of Benjamin, has her mother born in Connecticut and her father born in Vermont. Benjamin Buck Sr. living 1844 Province of Ontario; County of Norfolk and Place was Townsend Township, and 1851 census Benj Buck Canada West (Ontario). After Benjamin's death, his land went to Joseph. Benjamin, Robert and a small amount to Levi , son of Robert. In Dec. 1861,the Sherriff seized the land of Benjamin and Joseph for debt.

Brothers Benjamin Buck & Joseph Buck resided at Waterford, Norfolk Cty, Ontario and emigrated to Berrien County, Michigan in 1872 from Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada

I am beginning to think the parents of Barzillia are Beriah Buck and his wife, Sarah. Beriah Buck was born 25 Oct 1738 in New Milford, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. s/o Ezekiel Buck Jr. and Lydia Brownson. Moved to Pownal, Bennington Co., VT...was a Loyalist and the Court of Confiscation took his land 23 Apr 1778. Died June 1780 in Montréal. He is on a list of United Empire Loyalists, served with General Burgoyne and as Quarter Master in a corps of provincials (Anderson Company).
