Hi, I was just wondering if anyone thought it was possible that the 1851 census for Percy Twp could have been taken in 1857/58, possibly? I've seen that in some places it did not occur until 1852, however, for my family, the ages of the children all seem to be slightly too old in this census (I haven't found any other record of them in Canada as of yet).

I have in 1851 census:
Patrick O'Neal age 58
Mary O'Neal age 51
Michael White age 40
Mary White age 32
Nicholas White age 10
John White age 8
Mary White age 6
James White age 4
Thomas White age 2

But then, in the 1870 Census in the US:
Michael White age 63
Mary White age 50
John White age 20
Mary White age 18
Thomas White age 16
Richard White age 14
Elizabeth White age 12
Ann White age 10
Mary O'Neil age 81
(also Nicholas White age 24)

As you can see, the children only age by about 12 years or so between these censuses which were supposed to have been taken nearly 19 years apart. White and O'Neil/Neal are obviously very common Irish names, however, since the order was the same (minus the absence of James in the 1870 census) and the names of the parents and birthplaces of all the kids are the same, I have a hard time believing this is simply a coincidence and that this is not my family.

I would love any help anyone might be able to offer! Thank you!
