My greatgreatgrandmother was Miriam BROOKS (aka Mary) born abt 1805 PE Co. she likely married a John ELLIS (can't find the marriage) they had 3 sons John ELLIS born Oct 1830 Picton David ELLIS born 1833 PE Co and Benjamin ELLIS (my greatgrandfather) born 1836 Cramahe twp.
Miriam next married Angus CAMERON in 1842 in Cramahe twp and had 2 more children. She is buried with husband Angus in Castleton.
I suspect Miriam is the daughter of George BROOKS and Ann GARRISON listed in his will as Mary.
George b: 1766 d:1814 mentions a daughter Mary in his will. George and Ann had 9 children he appointed "his brother David" among some others as executor.
Abraham b: 1789 m: Ally (aka Alice)COLE lives Thurlow twp Hastings co 1851
Hannah b: abt 1790 m: Robert BUSH in 1807
George b: abt 1797 m: Charlotte BENEDICT in 1821 and m; Morey STREET in 1841
David b: ?
Mary (Miriam)b: 1805/1807/1809 d: 1891 m: John ELLIS m: Angus CAMERON
Nancy ? m: Peter HART Lived Cramahe had several children.
George's brother David referred to in will is thought to be David BROOKS b: 1785 d: 1865 m: 1815 to Catherine DELONG b: 1794.
They had 10 children listed as Henry, Jeremiah, Richard b: 1818, Sidney, Chancey b: 1821, Anthony b: 1825, Elizabeth b: 1828, Simon b: abt 1829, Permilla b: 1835 and Charles in 1837.
David is on militia roll 1822 age 35. This is not proven brother only proven that George did have a brother David that must have been living in 1811 period of time of the will.
Other researchers mentioned they think John BROOKS who m: Eve KETTLE was also brother of George and David. John and Eve being parents of the John b: 1804 Sophiasburg. John senior perhaps being listed in Sons & Dau off Loyalists here as born 1750. He appears militia roll age 53 (b: 1769). Perhaps is the John in 1851 census Huntington, Hastings co age 90 (b: abt 1760).
But with so little confirmed as proven its hard to say what I actually know for certain about my BROOKS other than Miriam (Mary) BROOKS was her name and her dates and children. PE Co early records really don't help us much as they are often non-existent. So I am not much help to you on John and Eve BROOKS. Seems to me I've seen a rough tree of their's on LDS website. I didn't make note of it. Still trying to solve my Mary BROOKS. - Best regards - Mary
