Many developed T.B. while at the hospital but if you were needing a cure in this area for T.B. you would probably be sent to the Muskoka Sanatorium. The Orillia Hospital was mainly for the mentally challenged but many completely normal children were put in this hospital as the result of a divorce etc where neither parent wanted the responsibility of raising a child.
It was sad as I witnessed completely normal children becoming handicapped by association or as they called it back then Institutional Neurosis. The abuse of patients was rampant until 1970 when Morton Schulman made issue of it.
