Looking for any descendants of this family: John Grant born Glengarry Co. circa 1845 (son of Angus and Catherine McDonald)...died in Sudbury on Feb.18, 1917...married my ancestor Mary Elizabeth McDonell/MacDonald born circa 1844 in Ontario or Quebec (daughter of William McDonell and Mary McDonell) died in Sudbury February 29, 1924 (here I am confused with age...death certificate states she was 70 which would make her date of birth circ 1854...she was living at 419 Ramsary Road at time of death.

Mary Agness was a nurse as per the will of her mother in 1953 in Sudbury.

Searching for the marriage of marriage to Minnie (McCarthy) Fowler to David Williamson McClelland pre 1911. the 1911 census says they are married. The marriage most likely took place in the Presbyterian Church in Webbwood, which no longer exists. The minister must have taken the records with him when he left as the archives of the church and the Ontario archives do not have them. He obviously did not register their marriage as the Ontario marriage registration does not exist. Her daughter Hannah Beatrice Fowler married William Forbes Edey in Webbwood. They had a daughter Wilma Eileen.
Any help finding this family or the records would be much appreciated.

I am looking for any info on Octave Belanger and Helene[Gervais]Belanger. I am not sure when this couple moved to the Nipissing/Sudbury area but they were origanally from the Renfrew area[1871].
In 1901 they were living in the Nipissing/Sudbury area, living with them were these children: Ferdinand b.1875, Vital b.1877, Marguerite b.1882 and Joseph b. 1885. Octave and Helene also had a daughter Olive b.1872, married 1893 to Louis Fremont in Renfrew.

Looking for info on an aborigial record of George Ladyka born to Stefan Ladyka and Marjorie May Ladyka (nee McLeod)
Stefan & Marjorie were married in Moosonee Can. 1920. George was born and had a brother but both together adopted out to non aboriginal parents (Miller)in or around North bay Ont.
We can find no info at archives in Toronto. Told to go to Sudbury for records.
As that is not possible, wondering if anyone has any other ideas.
Marjorie was born in Kukatush Ont. 1901 Marjoies mother was aboriginal and was a Polson. Jane Polson
Found copy of marriage lic. (Stefan & Marjories) in Foleyet Ont. but nothing more since 1992.
We are trying to establish aboriginal background.

Metcalfe family from township of Mckim

I am looking for any family members or information on my great Uncle, William Frederick Metcalfe or his descendants. My Grandfather (Ralph Metcalfe), great Uncle, their father and Stepmother and half siblings moved from Sheffield Yorkshire UK to Mckim in the Sudbury district Ontario around 1903. My Grandfather and the rest of his family except my great Uncle eventually moved to Australia. My great Uncle stayed in Canada. I have found him listed with his wife Lilian (? its hard to read her name) in the 1911 census living in Mckim. My Grandfather and the rest of the family are listed as living in Mckim in the 1911 census too so I know they didn't migrated to Australia till after 1911 but he married my Grandmother here in Australia in 1917 so migrated to Australia somewhere between 1911 and 1917.

About 1852 a WILLIAM KINGSLEY was born in Canada, but stayed with relatives until his parents, THOMAS and MARY (Webb) KINGSLEY got settled in New York City. Thomas and Mary were married in C of I in 1849 in Borrisoleigh, Tipperary. Thomas had been in the RIC and stationed in Limerick before he left Ireland. There's lots of Kingsley's mentioned in death notices in the Sudbury Star, so I'm hoping I'm headed in the right direction. I also see Kingsleys in Grey County, so maybe they're ours!? Please help me find a connection.

Looking for information on my grandmother, Clara Ellen Brown married to Albert Edward Brown. Lived in the Espanola area and died around 1920. Does anyone know which cemetary was used and how to find out if she is buried there? He worked at the paper mill after returning from the first world war and she may have died in childbirth. I am also looking for information on their children Jennet known as Jean; William; Claudine, Clara Mae; and Lloyd. Claudine and Clara Mae seem to have disappeared after their mother's death. Have heard a rumour in the family that Gerald and Olive Allan or Allen may have adopted Clara Mae. Can anyone from the area help?

I am researching my father's family line, and am not able to find any information about his father's side of the family.

My grandfather's name is Reginal/Rudolphe Potvin and was born in Sept 1912 to Joseph Potvin and Georgianna(?) Serre. His birthplace may have been Crystal Falls, ON or possibly Massechusets, USA. He passed away 02Dec1992 in Hamilton, ON.

He married Marguerite Rose Sicard/Secord on 11Oct1932 in Gogama, ON and had 6 children, Alphonse, Philippe, Henri, Estelle, Janine and Louise.

My grandparents William F. KELLY and Marie-Laura Domithilda RICARD settled in Sudbury in 1893.

Will Kelly (son of Daniel KELLEY and Maria FLEMING of Wolford Twp, Grenville Co, Ont) was a roadmaster with the CPR in Sudbury from 1890 to his retirement in 1925; covering an area from Mattawa to Biscotasing. He had a railway stop, just north of North Bay named after him - Yellek!

Marie-Laura Ricard (daughter of Francois RICARD and Adelaide MOUSSEAU of Isle Calumet, Quebec; sister of Felix Ricard also of Sudbury) was a school teacher in the North Bay and Sudbury area.

They raised 9 children: Cynthia, Faustina, Dorcas, Orland, Fovita, Colman, Ultan, Otta, and Rolande, and also Will's niece Mary Whalen, who died several years at the age of 104.

I am seeking information on Will's 3 eldest brothers John, Thomas and Michael (born late 1840's); as I have lost track of them after they left their parents' farm in the 1860 - 70's period.

Hi, looking for any descendants of William James Wilson and wife Agnes Black still up in the Sudbury area. My wife's grandfather William Maurice Wilson(through his son Vern), moved up to the area with his parents and siblings at the beginning of the 1900's. Maurice as he was called, joined the forces in 1940 and served until his death in Belgium in 1944. His wife Muriel and children then moved back to Forrester's Falls where the family was from. Wondering if any of the families of Maurice's brothers or sisters, Walter, Stanley, Daisy, Laura, Mildred Wilson are still around and interested in filling out the family tree a bit more.

I would appreciate any advice on getting a copy of the newspaper picture. For instance are the paper’s archives on-line. I will eventually contact the paper if I don't get advice on a better approach.

The family consisted of Alexander and his wife Jane MAHER PARKS and their children Daniel, Margaret Melinda Parks (Mrs Wm. J. Power), Mary aka Linda PARKS (Mrs. COPPS), Anne PARKS (married name unknown to me) and Beatrice PARKS.

Hello, I am hoping that someone who is familiar with Park Lawn Cemetery in Sudbury knows how I can find section LF. It is very likely that I will be visiting off-hours of the cemetery office so I am hoping someone here can tell me. I have called the cemetery but it was difficult for them to verbally tell me over the phone.

Using Googlemaps I found the satellite view of Park Lawn Cemetery. I was wondering if someone can take a look at it and tell me here Section LF is in the cemetery.

When I drive in to the cemetery off Horobin St straight ahead is the cemetery office. Where from that point after entering the cemetery from Horobin will I find section LF?

Soon I will be in Sudbury for a couple of days and I am hoping to explore some cemeteries in/near Falconbridge but I am having a huge problem trying to find the exact location of these cemeteries.

Would anyone how how I can find these cemeteries when I am at the Sudbury airport?

- Good Shepherd Cemetery, Skead

Looking at googlemaps I know how to find Falconbridge but where the cemetery is, is beyond me. I even tried the satellite image and couldn't see anything resembling a cemetery for either cemetery.

I assume the Good Shepherd Cemetery is on Skead road somewhere but where? before the Airport from Garson or after the airport closer to or maybe in Skead? Maybe it's not even on Skead Road?

The problem is that on May 30, 1943,as an air bomber for the R.C.A.F. he was reported missing and presumed dead in an air operation over Germany.

I cannot find any information on my mother. She was injured in 1966 and I can only remember bits and pieces of her childhood stories. Her Father's name was supposed to be Michael. She had a sister Mary (who married a man Harry Burley and resided with their son ((Robert) and daughter in Niagra Falls, Canada), a brother John and brother Peter. She mentioned living in Sudbury Ontario. I have her social security card and Immigration Green Card w/registration number. She used to say she was Austrian and Ukranian, but was a citizen of Canada until an amnesty in the US granted her "legal" status. I have searched Canadian crossings, Mexican crossings (my father was Mexican and I can easily find his info), Austrian ship logs, census for both US and Canada. Her parents supposedly died when she was very young and was taken by a neighbor. She mentions the Prospect Hotel in Sudbury, but it appears to no longer exists.

Any assistance you can give in pointing me to the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Seeking kin of R/279733 F/Sgt Harry Henry ANDREWS, Air Gunner, missing with B-24 Liberator crew, 6 June 1945. Son of HENRY & ISABELLA ANDREWS of Pine St, Sudbury. Harry's bomber was found in the Malaya jungle in 1955 (10 yrs later), but shamefully the crew kin were not notified. A new expedition to the crash site is scheduled for June '07, and I want to offer many new details to the kin. Harry had one sibling, MARGARET (younger). She married (maybe in Sudbury) and moved to St. Catherines, ON (wedding & move dates unk, married name unk.). I'm guessing that father died in Sudbury, date unk., as I've been told Isabella eventually moved to St. Catherines. Apparently she had adopted a boy after Harry's disappearance, and the boy played Jr. hockey in Sudbury. Name unk. Possibly father's grave is in Sudbury Park Lawn cem, sect D marker #585, but I don't have date of death yet. I'm told Harry & family emigrated to Canada from UK when he was 9 or 10. Ancestor was supposedly killed around 1923. He was listed as a section foreman for the CNR in 1920. As he lived in the Sudbury district, I'm assuming he worked around that area.

Hello everyone, I am wondering if SKS could give me directions on how I can find the cemeteries in Wahnapitae and in Coniston. I am planning a trip to the areas and although I have been there before I have never noticed any cemeteries in Wahnapitae and Coniston and I know there are some.

I will be heading to Coniston and Wahnapitae on Highway 17 from Sudbury. I know how to find the towns but not the cemeteries.

For Coniston, when I am at Highway 17 & Government Road, where do I go to find the Coniston Cemetery (also direction for other cemeteries if there is more than one in Coniston)

For Wahnapitae, when I am at High 17 & Hill Street, where do I go to find those cemeteries?

Once someone gives me some directions I can easily look it up on Googlemaps to get a great idea to help me out. I have already sent a couple of emails over the past couple of months to the Sudbury Regional District but unfortunately they have gone unanswered so I am hoping someone here can help me out.

This obit is the first indication that they remained in Canada. I would be delighted if anyone knows of remaining family and can suggest a way of contacting them.

Lokking for any information about John Alexander Douglas (1898 - 1983) and his brother Duncan Stewart Douglas (1900 - 1987) sons of William Stewart Douglas and Margaret Watson. Both were born in Matawatchan, Renfrew and are buried in All Peoples Cemetery, Martland Township. The family lived in Monetville.
