Just to start you off, this is obviously a WWI photo given the uniform. Woodfield Avenue was previously Morley Avenue in what was Ward 1, York South in the 1911 Canadian Census. The name change seems to have happened after 1920 (as far as I can tell from searching in google).

Try the Toronto Public Library's "Ask a Librarian" service to check the city directories around 1930 to see if you can come up with a full name for Mrs. Patterson.
