Pretty sure May's birthdate is correct. The Matron of the Victor Home actually visited her in the 50's and told her that her mother's things had been stolen. At the same time she helped her to obtain her birth certificate. By then she was married with children of her own.

To make all matters worse, her adoptive mother, Lydiann, died when May was
just 5 years old and she went to live with her grandmother. Anything that would have been known about the original adoption was lost when she died.
