I am wondering if any Toronto historians out there might be able to help? I have a William James Fitzsimmons (born Nov. 10 1913) in my family tree, and I have located his Ontario Birth Record on www.Ancestry
. In the section of this record that would list the place of birth there is the unusual entry in quotations - "the homestead".
I am not sure how to interpret this entry? Would there be a building or even a hospital that would go by this name. I wouldn't expect that who ever wrote the entry would jokingly be referring to the Firzsimmons' home or house as "the homestead" on an official document.
Any clarification would be very welcome. Please do not hesitate to view this document in my tree if needed.http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=ontario_birt...
