I am researching a family of Burks/Burkes who originally came from Leeds County, Elizabethtown Township (near Brockville, Ontario). I found a Peter Burk in the 1861 Census, born in Canada, 14 years old born in 1847. I’m not sure how he may fit into my tree, but since I’m searching for Burks too, I wrote it down. I have other info about who he lived with, etc. if you want to contact me at bonniepatrick@bellnet.ca. The connection for me is that Mary Patrick, b: 1836 married a (?) Burk and had a son, Michael Burk. This was her first marriage. She remarried in 1860, so somewhere in between my mysterious Burk died! Also, a Patrick went to Emily Township and that is where I really pick up the pieces of the Patricks. I’m wondering if my Burks also did.
