I am searching for information about John REILLY Junior. He was born 1778 in New York colony, Came to Canada as a child, lived in and around Niagara. Married (unknown) and is said to be father of Patrick, George, Sarah and Elizabeth. There are records of descendants of Patrick but nothing has appeared to show descendants of George, Sarah or Elizabeth. It is alleged that the WINTERMUTE Family adopted REILLY children. Who can explain this?? Patrick was supposed to have been born in Esquesing Township in 1806. Is there any proof?? Any information or guidance as to where to look for answers will be sincerely appreciated. Many Thanks for your time. LH

Does anybody have a list of the family's arrival in about 1825 from Kerry, Ireland, to Ontario. I believe Patrick arrived with his wife, Roseanne, and possibly one or two sons named John and Thomas (born about 1822 and 1825, respectively). I saw that Peter Robinson had a Patrick Heffernan on his list of arrivals to Ontario in 1825, but did not know if someone has the family members also on a list. This Patrick and his family settled in Nichol Townpoint, and Guelph. Thank you.

Hello:

Trying to find a death record for one Henrietta McCrea married Robert Hamilton Woods in York Ont 1908 had son Roy Vernon Wood 1909 - she is found in 1911 census in Wellington with her son with a widower Frank Coughlin. The birth record of Roy says they were living in Elk Lake in 1909. I presume she died in Wellington.

She is the daughter of Stephen McCrea and a Read woman.

I have discovered that the Pilkington Pat Moran who m Eliza Tobin and their children (son Pat Moran who later married Anna McArdle) are in Knocknabranna in Co Carlow in the early 1800s. As my ancestors, Thomas Moran and Mary Maher (immigrated to Puslinch Wellington Co in 1840s) and thier children are also found in Knocknabranna at the same time, it is most likely that they are related. I would like to talk to anyone interested in the Pilkington Moran families.
EVERSON / ARTHUR / WRIGHT / MUIR FAMILY

I am researching my ancestors in the Harriston/Mount Forest area. James Everson/Evarson and wife Lydia Margaret Mino or Minnow settled in the area of Harriston in the 1840's or 1850's They had four children: Alfred, Amanda, Charles and James. When Charles was nine years old in 1856 he ran away from home and walked miles in the woods to live with an uncle. The Uncle's name was Alexander Arthur and lived somewhere near Mt. Forest. This Arthur family had a large family of boys, all were over six feet tall. The youngest boy was Alexander and was around the age of Charles Everson. They were all known as "The Wild Arthurs". Charles Ernest Everson married Margaret Jane Wright on July 22, 1870 in Mount Forest, Ontario. If anyone is researching these families please contact me or any suggestions on where I can begin my research on the Eversons and Arthur families please let me know.

Would any subscriber happen to have the monument inscriptions for Rockwood Cemetery? I have two ancestors, and possibly more, buried there and would appreciate the monument data. They are:
Arthur BOLTON and his wife Ethel Mary (PEACH) BOLTON. I have not, as yet, found out if they had any children but I noticed there are many BOLTONs buried there.
I have the monument inscriptions for Kent County cemetery if anyone would like a look-up.

Hello, I am searching for William Harrison that came to Guelph, Wellington Co., Canada in 1830 from Staffordshire, England. I am working with a very old genealogy report of this Harrison family, that was not documented. I do not have a wife's name for this William, but the report says that William had 7 children that he brought with him, along with his wife. My connection is William's daughter Mary Ann Harrison that m. Abraham Somes in 1831 in Guelph. I do not have the names of Mary's siblings. The search for this family has been going on for years, so any clues or info would be so appreciated! Carolyn

I am interested in any information about the Patrick Moran m Elizabeth Tobin family that immigrated about 1841 from Co Carlow to S.Ont. They are found in the 1852 census in Pilkington. Thier son Patrick m Anna McArdle and this family is also found in the 1852 census in Pilkington and in the St. Joseph's RC Cemetery in Guelph, tombstone inscription indicates they are from Co Carlow.
I am related to the Thomas Moran family that immigrated to Puslinch in about 1842, from Leighlinbridge Co Carlow. I am hoping to find out if the two Moran families from Co Carlow are related.
Laybourne families of Minto Twp. (circa 1850+)

I am looking to connect with folks descending from or researching the Laybourne families that resided in Palmerston/Minto Twp. from the mid-1850s to early 1900s.

John Laybourne (my ggg-grandfather) passed away in Minto Twp. in 1873. His brother Robert lived there as well until his death in 1920. Most of Robert's family also lived their entire lives in the Palmerston area. All are buried in Palmerston cemetery (except aforementioned John - I cannot figure out where he was buried).

John's son Henry (my gg-grandfather) lived in the area for awhile and had an implement business there. His oldest daughter was born in Minto with wife Isabella Appleby. Something happened with Isabella, as Henry then remarried Mary Aldrich, had 8 more children. They relocated to the Shelburne, ON area.

I am wondering if there is a way of getting a copy of the records for Henry Hughes. He was a Tavern Keeper in 1864 in Guelph. He apparently wasn't feeling well and got some medicine for Cholera. Shortly thereafter became in extreme pain. There was a trial to see if the Doctor had in some way kill him. I am wondering if this might have family members listed in this record of the trial. I found this information in the Annauls of Guelph Township on www.ourroots.ca. I would appreciate any help.

Puslinch Thomas and Mary Moran 1840's

I have been researching decendants of Thomas Moran and wife Mary Maher(Meahger) who immigrated about 1842 to Puslinch Twp from Co Carlow Ireland. My earliest record for the family is on marriage document of one of their children that states her birth in Puslinch at about 1844. From land records their son Patrick was farming in Puslinch by 1854, the year after the supposed death of Thomas in 1853. I have researched cemetery register of St. Joseph's and contacted Our Lady Immaculate Church as well as the Diocese of Hamilton for any record of death or burial for Thomas and Mary but with no luck. 1852 census for Puslinch does not show the family although I understand it is only a partial record. Should I be searching censuses in another Twp at the 1852 census time period? I have contacted the Wellington Museum months ago but have not had a reply. After a year of research I have become quite attached to my family history and would dearly like to know the death dates and places of rest of my great great grands. Any ideas?

Wm. Barnet b. 1855 m. Maggie Templin b. 1866. Two sons -
Wilfred A. born Jan 22 1887 and Ivan T. born Aug.3 1893.
By 1911 Wilfred has left home. Ivan is still on the homestead Lot 16, Con 3 197 acres of very productive land.
Wilfred and Ivan were the great grandsons of Henry COWAN and
Margaret ROGERS who, in the 1860's, occupied lot 5, con 10
East Garafraxa. I am seeking descendants of either gentleman
who might have information about their Templin - Cowan relatives. How did Henry die in 1866?? Margaret Rodgers was very ill before she died. Was she living with a member of
her family in 1897 prior to death?? Where was she buried??
Any clue to the puzzle will be sincerely appreciated

For more years than I am willing to admit, I have been researching the Land family of Wellington. Over the years I have exchanged information with cousins and other researchers. I created a website for any wishing the info. I do not take credit for all of the research since many contributed to this project. I am merely a compiler wishing that all I have collected does not get lost in time.
If info is incorrect, please let me know. If you wish to add info on your branch, let me know. Contact information is on the site.
I would love to hear from anyone who is connected in any way to this Land family.
My hobby became an obsession. I enjoyed every minute. I hope this helps some find answers they seek.

http://www.geocities.com/landfamily70
Belsyde Cemetery Lookup Please (Black)

Hello list,

I am hoping some kind soul could help me with my search for the Black Family, buried at Belsyde cemetery Wellington Ontario. In particular I am searching for John Black and his wife Christian (Lamont) Black. They emigrated from Kilfinan parish in Scotland in 1842 and moved to the East Williams and Strathroy area of Ontario. I have never been able to find out where they were buried but had assumed it would be somewhere in the Strathroy area. I recently used the "Ontario Cemetery Finder Aid" and while I found many John Blacks in many cemeteries around Ontario, I could find only a single instance of a "Christian Black" and she was at the Belsyde cemetery.

BLACK Christian Belsyde, Old Section, Division A, Section 1 to 4 Wellington Nichol WW-4316

If this is the right Christian Black, (the only one listed in all of Ontario in the OCFA) there are also several John Blacks at the same cemetery, The first one being the most likely one.

BLACK John Belsyde, Old Section, Division A, Section 1 to 4 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John Noble Belsyde, Old Section, Division A, Section 1 to 4 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John Henderson Belsyde, Old Section, Division A, Section 5 to 9 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John Wilson Belsyde, Old Section, Division A, Section 5 to 9 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John Belsyde, Old Section, Division B, Section 4 to 9 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John H. Belsyde, Old Section, Division B, Section 4 to 9 Wellington Nichol WW-4316
BLACK John Henderson Belsyde, Old Section, Division B, Section 4 to 9 Wellington Nichol WW-4316

I am seeking the Inscription information from the stone/monument for Christian Black to try and verify if this is my Gr Gr Gr Grandmother. Christian was born about 1790 in Kilfinan Scotland. She is listed on the 1851 census but the 1861 census has only her husband John so I assume she passed away between 1851 and 1861.
Can anyone help??

Thanks
David Black
Kenmore Wa.
USA

Burial Location for Jonathan Haslam and his wife Mary.

Seeking to learn where my great-great-grandfather, Jonathon Haslam, is buried (born Mountmellick, Queens County, now Laois County, Ireland approx. 1796). Jonathon came to Eramosa, Ontario through the Port of New York on January 26, 1849. According to the 1851 Census he was living in Eramosa working for the famous and wealthy Henry Strange family. The area would become known as Rockwood and was designed and created by Henry Strange. He carved up much of his own land to create the town. According to the 1861 Census, Jonathon was joined by his wife Mary. It is not known if any of their children came to Canada with Mary, or when they came, who they all are, or through which port any of them travelled. My great grandfather, Alfred Haslam, was here by 1863 as he married Jane Bell (daughter of William and Eliz. Bell) in Eramosa, Ontario, on April 22, 1863. Jonathon died in Rockwood, Eramosa, on April 01, 1874 (Ont. Death Reg.# 010467). His wife Mary (born Ireland approx. 1804) shortly after the death of Jonathan, moved to Bodmin, Huron County, Ontario to be with her son Alfred and his wife Jane, and family. Mary died in nearby Brussels, Ontario on December 15, 1877 (Ont. Death Reg.# 005184). Her burial location is also unknown, may have been Sunshine or Bethal Cemeteries near Bodmin, not nuch left of either cemetery today and no records survived to my knowledge. Bodmin is completely gone and is now a cow pasture.
I do not know if any archives exist for old newspapers where obits, death, birth, and marriage announcements could be found. I speculate that the cemetery in Rockwood where Jonathan was buried is also gone now. I would very much appreciate any information on the Haslam family that you can provide, especially the burial locations for both Jonathon and Mary.
Yours in search of the past, Gary Stuart Alfred Haslam, Surrey, BC, Canada, gshaslam@telus.net
