my gggrandfather's name was Bernard Brennan, his father James Brennan and Honor Tansy. Bernard was born in 26 June 1808 in Scurmore parish, Ireland and married Catherine Nary (Neary) Feb 1837 in Fairymount parish, Ireland and Martin Brennan was one of the witnesses.
Do you think this could be your Martin Brennan?

Thomas Harris - could he be connected to Henry Harris and Annie Churchill?

I am seeking information on Thomas Harris born in Ontario about 1879(April 1). No birth record that I can find. His parents are named on his marriage record as Henry Harris and Annie Charnochan. I am attempting to connect Thomas to Henry Harris who married Annie Churchill Oct. 19 1880 in Claremont. Henry lived in Markham at the time, Annie in Brougham. They are on the 1881 census living in Markham with son Thomas 2 years of age.
If this is the correct family, Thomas was born prior to Henry and Annie marrying. Frank was born about 1882, Louis about 1885 (d. about 1888). Jane, later known as Jennie was born about 1888 and finally Henry b/d Aug.20/21 1892.
As I follow this family through the census/birth/marriage and death records I can connect them all except Thomas. There are many coincidences such as the area of Toronto they all lived in by 1901, Henry died March 1921 living on Eastern Ave. Thomas died May 1921 living on Eastern Ave. Annie (d. Feb 25, 1910), Henry and Jane aka Jennie (d. Aug 14, 1933 married 3 possibly 4 times), are buried in St. John's Norway as is Thomas. Undertaker for all was Washington & Johnson, Queen St. Toronto.
Finally, the death record for Thomas indicates he was born in Brome (could be Brougham, where Annie Churchill was living prior to her marriage). However, the name of his mother on the death record is clearly not Charnochan as it is on his marriage record.
If anyone can shed some light I would appreciate it.
Ebenezer Cook of Markham

Hi Folks
While doing some digging for a Corrigan - Cooke - Cook line I came upon a death registration for Ebenezer Cook 06 Mar 1914 in Springfield Ontario. He was aged 79 years 2 months and 5 days whci works out to a birthdate around 01 Jan 1835 in "MacKham" which I think is probably Markham.
Can anybody place him in a Markham Cook family?
Reason I am curious?
Well Silas Cook of York, as he has come to be known, had a brother Ebenzer Cook who was in Whitchurch in 1835, signing a petition by Silas's children Charlotte and Joseph Cook of Leeds Grenville with a statement that "they are who they say they are" and that Silas was his brother.
( The petition was asking the authorities to recognize the late Silas Cook as a UEL, a status he tried for all his life and never did achieve!Even though he was in the KRRNY 2nd Battalion)
I do know that Silas had a son John Cook who was in Markham about 1802 and I do not know if he remained there. This son may have been born in the USA.
Silas Cook was born in Eastern new Jersey about 1750 and at age 25 he moved to Pennsylvania where the Revolutionary War caught up with him when taken prisoner by Joseph Brant. I guess he was a smooth talker because Brant let him go and he joined the KRRNY, second battalion, 1779- 1783, obtaining land in Niagara 1886-7 He had to sell the land in Niagara when he was denied UEL status and he was for a while in Vaughan Tp.
1804 he bought Conc V lots 12 13 14 Edwardsburgh and in 1816 divided the lots up between his children and himself.
I know there was exchange back and forth some time back on this board about the Markham Cooks.
Rob McGinn in Thunder bay

You would need to find either a church record for an 1848 marriage or find it in the district marriage records which did not always record the names of the parents. Stouffville is in Whitchurch Township north of Markham Township all in then York County. Now, it is all part of the Regional Municipality of York. In 1848, it was all part of the Home District. I can check for it at the library tomorrow night.

As for Abram's baptismal record, these are very far and few between. There is a William Cline who has a child baptized in Whitchurch in 1848 in the Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Register:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wjmartin/w...

He is likely a brother to your Abraham. Perhaps following his tracks may lead you to their parents.

A death which may be of interest:

Elizabeth Cline, aged 83 years, widow of Geo. Cline, b. England; cause: old age - confined to bed about 2 weeks; Dr. Scott; Newmarket, York County; Methodist

And a marriage:

Name: William Cline
Birth Place: England
Residence: Toronto
Age: 38
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827
Father Name: George
Mother Name: Elizabeth
Spouse Name: Maggie Josephine Nelson
Spouse's Age: 22
Spouse Estimated Birth Year: abt 1843
Spouse Birth Place: Ontario
Spouse residence: Toronto
Spouse Father Name: Daniel Hayden
Spouse Mother Name: Magae
Marriage Date: 23 Oct 1865
Marriage County: York (Toronto)

Name: Elizh Cline
Birth Place: Canada
Residence: Toronto
Age: 21
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1842
Father Name: Elizh George
Spouse Name: William H.
Sounds to me like he died at Sunnybrook Vets Hosp.
in Toronto -
Our main newspaper is The Toronto Star - and their
marriages, deaths, births, etc. on on-line, so if he had
an obit it might be in this newspaper. Many researchers
world-wide use this site, it is very reasonable

http://thestar.pagesofthepast.ca/

Abraham (Abram) Cline and Sarah Ann Baker marriage

I am looking for church records of the marriage of Abraham(Abram)Cline b. 1 Feb 1826 and Sarah Ann Baker m.17 Oct 1848 in Stoufville. I believe Stoufville is near the Whitchurch/ Markham area. In finding their marriage record, it is my hope to find his parents' names. Also Abram was, supposedly, born in Whitchurch. I would also welcome a church birth record of Abram. Any info from above or directions I could take to find the above, would be appreciated greatly.

Sandra,
Are you still working on the Beacock Tree? I have found more information on the Jerome line, Mary Melinda Jerome was your husband's grgrgrandmother. Also did I ever send you the newspaper article on Abram Beacock's death in the U.S.A. when your husband's grandfather was only 4 years old? I am the Texan Beacock who sent you pages from the big Beacock Family Tree Book.
Linda

Hello Howard

I have come across your note on Robert and Barbara Harvey posted in 2001. If you are still able to recieve this note, I would really like to hear from you. I am a descendant of Barbara and Robert Harvey as well.

I have learned much from other Harvey researchers that I am sure you would value if you have not traced the same information.

A number of the other Harvey siblings went to Hillman Michigan and I am curious what tracing you have for those families.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.

Kirk Quinn
Barrie Ontario
Joel, I'm interested in finding information on a Martha Bagg who married George Mellings in the 1880's? She is buried in Hillcrest cemetery in Woodbridge Ontario. There must be a connection to my mother Annie (Porter) Colton as my mother's first husband Richard Harrison is buried with Martha and George in Hillcrest. There is also another Bagg buried there I believe he was a nephew of Martha's. Any info is appreciated. Please reply to millway@sympatico.ca

This may be a Dennis or possibly Denison, dennison of York. I have her as Dennis on a marriage registry, but Dennison on the marriage certificates of her children. Her Father may be R. John Dennison with a brother George Dennison who were from Yorkshire but served in the Canada Militia.
