Although I am not actively researching the McNeil family, there is a Margaret McNeil of Vernon River in my family tree. She married my GG grandfather Joseph Edward Heckbert. Here is all the information that I have:
He was listed as Edward Heckbert, bachelor, and she was listed as Margaret McNeil, spinster, Vernon River. They were married in Zion Presbyterian Church in Charlottetown by James Fletcher (Justice of the Peace) on 22 August 1874.

Sadly, Joseph was not really a bachelor but was a married man. Margaret obviously found out and eventually testified against him in January 1876 when he was being tried for bigamy. He was sentenced to one year in jail in Charlottetown but died in June of that year in jail. I have always wanted to find out a bit more information about Margaret - who her parents were, when and where she was born, and if she had any children with Joseph.

I found another marriage record for a Margaret McNeil who married in 1877:
Margaret A McNeill, spinster of Vernon River married Edwin Garrett, bachelor, of St. John's NB on 26 December 1877. Witnesses were Mary and D J McDonald. Book 1, Page 11, #197. Zion Presbyterian Records.
I wonder if this is the same Margaret McNeil that married Jospeh Edward Heckbert?
