I have the information you sent on B, M, D. I have my entire line from France to present. I wanted to know if Louis Laferriere sold his farm before he came to the United States in 1880. The census of 1871 has him living on a 652 acre farm in Matane. He moved to Matane from Bellechasse around 1861. Its possible that he was granted the land by the government at the time. If you could find anything about him buying the land and whether he sold it or gave it to a son when he left the country, that would be helpful.

The first child of Simon Pipe (Boebe) and Judith, Catherine... (illegitimate) born c. July 1794 at Mont Louis (co. Gaspe) Qc, was baptised Oct. 18, 1795 at Rimouski (St-Germain). Simon Boebe came to Canada with the second transport of the Brunswick troups. He was with the Rhetz regiment, Ehrenkrook co. He was discharged in Canada July 30th, 1783. Born c. 1758 Altingen (Haltingen, Weil-am-Rhein), Germany. He died c. 1807 in Matane Qc.

As no marriage record was found, we don't know his ancestry.

J'ai fait d'autres vérifications ce soir et il semble que Robert Joncas avait notamment des frères du nom Gérard, Romuald (recencement 1911) et peut-être un Benoît - je pourrais revérifier mes sources sur demande, pour ce dernier. Il y avait aussi au moins une soeur.

, car de plus, il a fait de la politique municipale. Il a eu une entreprise avec un de ses frères qui est resté à Matane je crois « Gulf Maritime Construction CO Ltd ».

Il pourrait s'agir de Bernard Joncas, qui était aussi un homme d'affaires. Lorsque j'étais jeune, il possédait une grosse souffleuse à neige chargée d'assurer le lien routier entre Matane et les villages environnants (dont mon village natal, St-Luc). Cette énorme machine m'impressionnait au plus haut point.

If you are interested in doing genealogy research, go to the MICHAUD board and post the names of *deceased* ancestors (no living persons), like your grandfather, including the full name of his wife and where they were from. If you don't have that information yet, you need to start at the beginning.

(1) Get a good book on "beginning" genealogy. It will tell you that the place to start is with interviewing every member of your family, especially cousins, to find out what they know about when and where people were born, lived, married, or died.

(2) Get your grandparents' full names from your father's (a) birth certificate (b) marriage record (c) Social Security application (if in USA). Be sure to notice any locations mentioned.

(3) Find your grandfather in the 1930 census. Find out the names of his siblings. From his age then, you may be able to check the Social Security Death Index (if in USA) then send for his application, which lists his parents. Knowing the names of his siblings, you may be able to find cousins who have more information.

(4) Go to your local Family History center or genealogy society and ask for any help that you need.

J'ai ma grand-mere qui se nommait Yvonne Simoneau est décédé le 21 Octobre 2006 en Ontario. Son pere se nommait Napoléon Simoneau dit Pipe et sa mere Lucine Bélanger. Le pere et le grand-pere se nommaient Joseph et Simon tous de la gaspésie. J'aimerais en savoir plus sur la famille et la descendance. Des gens disent que c'est Allemand et d'autres c'est indiens. La fille de Yvonne a l'arbre généalogie qu'elle va m'envoyer et elle m'a dit que ma grand-mere est vraiment indienne. Si quelqu'un en sait un peu plus de la famille peu m'écrire et je sais qu'il a beaucoup de Simoneau a Montréal peut-etre de la famille qu'on pourrais se voir et en parler. Je sais qui a mari Judith Minoues car c'est le cot de ma grand-mere Simoneau.Je crois que son pere se nommait Napolon Simoneau. Hi Mike! I have been working on my part of the Faubert (Foubert) family for about 5
years and haven't been able to find the specific part of Que. that my
g-g-grandparents (Joseph b abt 1833 and Christina) came from! Their son,
Joseph b abt 1855, married Emelie Chamberland in Matane PQ (though she was born
in Bic to Felix Rigobert Chamberland and Louise McKinnon), but I don't know
where their parents marriage was! All I know is that Joseph and Christina
had children in Canada (Joseph, Libbie b abt 1858, Christina b abt 1859, and
Delia b abt 1861); NY ( Thomas b abt 1864, George b abt 1871); Fall River,
MA (Fred b Aug 1874 and John b abt 1876); and then the family moved to MI!
My grandfather, Philip Joseph, (and some of his 14 siblings) was born in Bay
City, MI. My father, Donald Paul, was born in Detroit, and my siblings and
I were born in CA. Somewhere, we changed the name to Fobert. I would
appreciate any help you can share.

Hi..I am descended from Joseph Pipe. He married Julie Cote,. They had a daughter-Tatienne. She married Joseph Durette. They had daughter-Annie. She married Paul Bolduc-Burgess..They had son - Bernard, my dad..We are the Maine descendents..Do you have any idea where the land is that was deeded to Judith? I would really like to go there some day. Do you have any idea where in Germany Simon came from?

I am looking for information about the parents of Agnes Mcgugan b.around the 25 July 1857 who married Elie LePage (b. 1843<> ) in Metis around 30 Oct 1879.
Agnes's parents were Malcolm McGugan and Catherine McMillan. Catherine was from Matane area and I think Malcolm was too although there is an 1831 census that lists both McGugan families and McMillan families in the Matane area.
Does anyone have information that might help me?

Is there an ISBN number on the back of your book as I would love to purchase a copy of it. Perhaps there is an address or person I can contact indicated.
Just FYI Agnes died before Elie and after her death his sister, Emma, came and took him back to ? where he eventually died and was buried. He would be my great grandfather and I would love to find out where he is buried so that I could visit his grave when I go up to Quebec.
I think the Angl may mean Anglican and I agree that Lev probably means Levis. Could Aub mean Auberge and what exactly is that?
For Christina the Unie probably means United for United church.
I don't know what s/o means however, do you?
I can't tell you how happy I am with this info. Now on to find out who Malcolm and Catherine's parents were. I'm having a great time with this genealogy and have unearthed all kinds of treasures!
