Seek information on William Brown(e) of Quebec City, died before 1838, father of Mary Ann Brown (also known as Maria Ann or Marianna Brown or Browne--born September 19, 1820), who married James Ross in 1838.

William Brown and his father were both from Quebec City, so I expect that the family arrived at the time of the conquest or shortly thereafter. For some reason, Mary Ann was born in England, so perhaps William was involved in trade or was a sea-captain.

If there's anyone researching early Brown families in Quebec City, I'd be interested in hearing from them. These Browns were Irish Protestants, although Mary Ann received her education at the Ursuline Convent. Are there records of students at the Ursuline convent?
