Just saw your post. I use a site called NosOrigines which is quite good. Felix is also in my family tree with his marriage with Adele (Adelaide) Boucher. Here's the link to the website starting with him, you'll be able to go way back with it.

http://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?genealogi...

Cheers

Thank you for this information. My husband's uncle has been searching for more than 30 years for information about his father's brother, Trefle. I don't know if he even knows that his first name was Philias as he has always referred to him as Trefle..I will pass this information on to him. How can I get a copy of the death record, and does it show the place of birth in Canada or the US..?This is one more family mystery that is solved. Now, to find a death record for Trefle's father, Joseph Roy,who was born in 1864 St. Georges, Beauce. He was a lumberjack in Maine and it is believed he died sometime around 1894. If you come across anything on Joseph, I would appreciate you letting me know...This is the last family mystery, yet to be solved. When Joseph died, his widow, Marie Grenier returned to the Beauce and had to adopt out her two younger children, Napoleon, Philias' twin brother and Joseph,my husband's grandfather. She had no means of supporting them and even returned to Maine for a while to stay with her oldest son, Bill who had to work in the factories at a young age.Marie did return to Quebec and married in 1912 to Honore Phillipon. I've heard stories that Marie did try to get her children back, but the families that took the boys in wouldn't give them back. It must have been awful for her.Her own children were led to believe terrible things about her. She did what she thought was best for her boys, even if it meant losing them.. This family had alot of hard times and so many unanswered questions for more than 100 years. I'm glad my husband's uncle is still living so I can share with him this good news. Once again, thank you for your help....

Sandy

Looking for information on Joseph Boucher, son of Oliver and Clothilde Poulin. Joseph was born 12 Dec 1870. I can't find where & when he died but it possibly was in St. Francois, Beauceville, or St. Honore-de-Shenley, Beauce, Quebec and it would have been after 1951.
I'm also looking for my great aunt, his last wife, Marie-Eugenie St. Pierre. She too was alive in 1951 per the obituary of her brother that died in Manchester, New Hampshire. I can't find where & when she died and the City Directories and Canadian Census don't go as high past 1910 that I could find. HELP SOMEONE !!!
Lisa

I am searching my ancestors named Philippon and came across your post. I found an Honore Philippon in my search. His father is Hector Philippon. Hector's father is Joseph Antoine Philippon who married on August 11, 1817 at Ste-Marie, Beauce.

Joseph Antoine Philippon is son of Yves Philippon and Marie-Louise Faucher.

I wonder if these are the same Honore.

Sincerely,

Brigitte (Philippon) Keller

I realize the age for John Lessor is unlikely. The age for John Lessor is based on what was recorded for him in the 1880 US Census for Brewer, Maine. Language could have been a barrier or he might have told his young 2nd wife he was younger than he really was.
The birthdate for Constance was based on the reverse computation of her age on her death certificate.
Either of course could be inaccurate. I am inclined to think that John Lessor was born before 1842.

Seeking information about John Lessor probably Jean Lessard or Jean Baptiste Lessard.

John was born about 1842 (1880 US Census) in Canada (most likely Quebec). He had a first wife Mary (Marie?) by whom he had at least two daughters. The death certificate for one of his daughters states that Mary's maiden name was Varney. This is unconfirmed and may be erroneous. Perhaps it was Vadnais? John's two daughters are described below.
The first is Mary Constance (b: 25 May 1856 probably in PQ d: 7 Apr 1932 in Brewer, ME) and the second Adele Ida (b: 2 or 8 Feb 1860 in PQ, Canada d: 18 Oct 1918 in Brewer, ME). It is believed that John's wife Mary dies by the early 1870's because he is living with his second wife in 1880 in Brewer, Penobscot County, Maine. Later Census records state that the two daughters had moved to the US 1860-1862. I have not been able to find any record in the 1870 US Census.

By the time John (b:1842) shows up in the 1880 Brewer, Maine Census, his first wife Mary is deceased, probably in Canada and he has remarried Salena (b:1855) in Canada and has 3 more children; Mary E.(b: 1874 in Canada), Joseph (b:1875 in Canada), and James E. (b:1876 in Maine) By that time Adele is 20 and working as a servant in the Peter Pooler household in Brewer. Mary has married Thomas Jork [Jacques] whose real surname is actually Verow and is living in Brewer. Mary Constance's death certificate states that she was born in St. Joseph, Canada (perhaps in Beauce?).

John Lessor and his family seem to disappear after the 1880 Census. I can find no further record of him or any member of the family, (no birth, death, marriage record, no US Census record for 1900).

Hi Gilberte

I sure do have their names. Joseph who was born in 1864,at St.Georges, Beauce, parents names are Pierre Roy and Lucie Doyon.
There's been a mystery about this family that we uncovered a couple of years ago. Joseph and Marie Grenier had four sons, the oldest Balaam (Bill) remained in Maine, Joseph and the twin brothers, Napoléon and Tréflé were adopted after their father Joseph died, actually there's no record of Tréflé being adopted and the family does not know what happened to him. He may have died as a young child.

The family still hasn't found any record of death on Joseph the father, only that he would have died about 1894, either in Maine or the Beauce. Marie Grenier remarried Honoré Philippon in 1912. It would be nice to find this missing information. Hopefully one of these days.

I hope this information is helpful.

Sandra
