Surnames: Carey, Carret, Guerette, Kerry, Querree, Querry, Gautreau

Over the past four years, my Kerry [also Carey] ancestral line has been pushed back to Simon Tiret dit Carey, born about 1725, settling around 1760-1762 in New Richmond, marrying Marguerite Gautreau in 1762 in Carleton, and dying in 1780.

I do not know how many children he sired with Marguerite, but one of them, Jean-Baptiste Carey, b. 1766 is from whom I descend.

If anybody shares this line with me, or can help me push back this line further, I would be very grateful.

Also, I am very curious about WHO Simon Carey was. It has been my understanding that New Richmond was either founded by or settled by soldiers from Wolfe's disbanding army who chose to settle in Gaspé rather than return to England. Could Simon have been one of these soldiers?

Yours, aye

Mike
