Hi,
I'm Auguste LeBourdais's grandson. We, our family, have Auguste's artifacts. My mother is Cecile LeBourdais and she said when I grew my first beard that I took from him. We inherited Auguste's resiliency and he was not in anyvway a legend. He was for real. He had both his legs amputated by the people of the Magdalen Islands because of frost bites after he was washed ashore on ( November 1871 ) from his boat the Wasp. He was first master on the vessel which was going to England. He was planning to get his Captain certificate over there. He has his ankles, his legs amputated then he went to Quebec City in the summer to have surgery to fix his wounds and have wooden legs like a pirate. He then came back to the Magdalens to install the telegraph system and he married Émilienne Renaud a school teacher of the time. You can write me to have more details. Do you really descent from him and why did I never heard about you ? Au revoir.
