I hope somebody out there can help me. I am looking for information on my great great grandfather. Leon benoit Alexandre was his full name. He was born at Old Mines, Missouri in the USA in March 1835. He left home to fight in the Civil War in 1862. I have a military record stating he deserted the Union Army in January 1863. He was never seen or heard from again by anybody in the family. He left a wife and 4 children. He would have been just shy of his 28th. birthday. I heard a rumor that he went to Canada and died there in the early 1900's. If he did go there, it may have been to Montreal. The Duclos' immigrated from France to Montreal about 1642 or so.

The following list is the list of decendency:

Jean Celle dit Duclos
Gabriel Celle dit Duclos
Gabriel Lambert Celle dit Duclos
Antoine Decelle Duclos
Antoine Decelle Duclos
Alexander Duclos, I
Alexander Duclos, II
Leon Benoit Alexander Duclos
John Henry Declue
Altha Pearl Declue (my grandmother)

If anybody can shed any light on the mystery surrounding Leon Benoit Alexandre Duclos, I would appreciate hearing from you. I would very much like to know the fate of my great great grandfather. Thank you for your consideration. BTW, I do NOT speak French.
