Well, again it goes back to the day when a lot of people couldn't write so they wrote what it sounded like. I have in my trees direct relatives that are MacRae, McRae, McCrea, McFall, MacPhail, etc.
Matter of fact some changed the spelling of their names to escape something or Crete a new life. You never know. Lol
When searching for your relatives you can't always discount spelling.

You are more than likely related to me in a distant way. Aren't you lucky. Lol
