Hi Richard,
Thanks for the reply. I just got back from my trip and loved seeing the St Jacque de Leeds area. Went to the Anglican Church built 1831 in the village. My ggggrandfather married in it in 1832. Wish I had of been able to get inside it- it isn't open to public until after St Jean Baptiste long-weekend late June. I'll have to get back again another year when its open.
As for MORAN's yes I've gotten a fair amount figured out but mostly after James gets here to the Leeds area. Have figured out who all of his children married and where they lived except the eldest Witham or William b: 1833 and the youngest Henrietta Montague Scott MORAN b: 1852. I don't know who they married or if they married nor where they were buried.
Me and a couple of my MORAN cousins have found at least 4 MORAN families lived in the area.
1. Thomas MORAN and family in St Sylvestre, Lotbiniere Co was only a couple miles away.
2. My James b: 1807 Ireland married Susanna PAUL CLIFFORD. Lived Leeds Twp -married, had family there and are buried in Leeds Twp. same church where they married.
3. Another Leeds Twp 1861 census James MORAN b: 1813 Ireland is with a Bridget MORAN b: 1798 Ireland. That James had a son James b: 1842 and son Patrick b: 1834.
4. Flavien MORIN lived Ireland Twp Megantic Co.
Who was your MORAN that you mentioned settled abt 1825? What township and County was St Patrice de Beauvirage in?- Thanks again for the help- Mary
