My great grandfather was baptized in 1879 at Ste. Agnes de Dundee and always said that he was born there. However, in the 1881, 1891, and 1901 censuses, his family is recorded as living in St. Anicet, not in Dundee.
Is it possible that a family who was technically living within the boundaries of St. Anicet town (or township?) would belong to the Ste. Agnes parish because it was nearby? Would they perhaps even consider their "home town" or village to be Ste. Agnes de Dundee, even though their home was considered by the census takers to be a part of St. Anicet?
I am just looking for some clarification as to the geography of this area! All of the towns, townships, villages, municipalities, parishes and counties are very confusing! Thanks!
