What I love about these message boards is that sometimes folks may respond over a decade later - lets see.

I have been looking for the names of my great grandmother's parents for over a decade. They died when she (Mable Elizabeth) and her brother (Walter) were young and no one seems to know much about them. The father's last name was Johnstone from New York, according to the censuses of my great grandmother and her mother's last name is Horne, from Canada.

Johnstone and Horne probably born in the mid 1840's, married about 1870 and ended up in San Francisco by the mid 1870's and both had died by 1900, but I do not know when nor how. I just know the brother gave away my great grandmother at her wedding in 1906 in San Francisco.

This Horne family has an interesting history in that they are related to the Stevens, Coopers, Woodthorpes.... The Woodthorpes and Coopers were actors in the mid 1800's in San Francisco and Oakland and the Stevens started in silent films (Keystone cops) and graduated into full length cinema. I know these families are related to my Hornes, probably through the Woodthorpe or Cooper sisters, but I have not been able to determine exactly how. I know nothing about my ggrandfather Johnstone.
