Chugg, Craik and Mitchell families - Ottawa and Blue Sea Lake

Hello

I have relatives that had a cottage on Blue Sea Lake in the 1950's and possibly up to now. John Chugg (my grandmother's Uncle) and his family spent time at the cottage and I have seen a few photos of them there. John passed away and over the years family members have moved and lost contact. I would love to reconnect with family and share all the photos and information that I have collected.

Here are the names of the relatives that spent time at the lake -
John Chugg 1865 - 1959
Wallace Chugg 1901 - 1973 (son of John)
Ada Beatrice Chugg 1892 - 1970 (daughter of John)
Grace Chugg Peake 1896 - 1974 (daughter of John)
Grace Chugg Craik 1919 - ??? (granddaughter of John)
Sharon Craik Mitchell (194? - ??) (great granddaughter of John)

It is possible that Sharon Craik Mitchell may still be living around Blue Sea Lake or in that area. If any knows Sharon (or knew any of the people listed above) I would love to hear from you.

I am going to try to attach a photo of the cottage with Grace Chugg, Ada Beatrice Chugg and Sharon Mitchell

Thanks for taking the time to read this message

Thelma
My Great grandparents , John McDougal Dale and native wife
Cecile Dale (Twenish) lived at Baskatong bridge they had seven children . After she died in 1910 the place was flooded in around 1929 . Most of the graves were removed , I was told there were two native graves on that road (Baskatong) I believe she was put there. Does any one have those records? Does any one have any information on the family's that lived there? Not much in history books.

I am tracing a Vanasse family that lived in Low Wright Quebec . They had a slew of children . I found two baptisms at the Catholic parish in Farrelton in the late 1860s . In 1880 I found a baptism at Ste Cecile de Masham . There is nothing for this family at Maniwaki . I have a number of children born in the 1870s in that area and quite frankly I don't know where to look . Any suggestions appreciated . Bernard

Elizabeth Bible, wife of William Thompson

Hello

I am very interested to see if anyone has any connection to, or information about, Elizabeth Bible, who was the first wife of William Thompson. They are buried in Cantley Cemetery. Their headstone lists William as deceased in 1885 at age of 81 years and 5 months, with his wives, Elizabeth Bible and Margaret Livingston.

I believe that they may possibly be the parents of my great, great grandfather, Edward Thompson born between 1822 and 1828 and died in 1898. Edward is buried in the same cemtery. Edward married Isabella Larmour and they raised their family in Wakefield. His first daughter was named Elizabeth Bible Thompson. She married Isaac Erasmus Cross and moved to Grand Rapids, Michagan where she died.

Any ideas, suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

Thelma

George Currie (Anglican) and Bridget Spooner Pearson (Catholic) were to have been married around 1850 in Buckingham. Would this have been possible in Quebec back then or would they have had to have gotten married in Ontario if interdenominationl marriages were considered taboo in Quebec? What next?

I am searching for information on the CHAMBERLIN, MOREHOUSE and SPALLIN families of the Hull and Gatineau region of Quebec. The CHAMBERLIN brothers, Thomas, Leonard, John and Josiah came to Bytown about 1801 to work for Philemon Wright as millwrights. John and Josiah married and settled in the area. The other two brothers returned to the USA. John CHAMBERLIN married Mary BLOSS (date and place unknown). Their daughter, Julia, married Rudolphus MOREHOUSE on Feb. 6, 1856. They settled in the community of Low, Quebec. Their daughter, Hannah MOREHOUSE, married John G. SPALLIN (brother of Joseph SPALLIN of Masham)on May 22, 1878. Hannah and John moved several days later to Leven township, Pope County, MN. Eventually they settled in Yorkville, Alberta.

I have had no luck in any of the other areas of Quebec and have decided to try posting to all of them in my quest to find my Joseph Louis Gareau dit Saintonge and his wife Marie Louise Monet dit Boismenu. I have no parents, birthdate or place for Joseph, the best I have is according to several census I have found him is that he was born cir 1823/25. His wife Marie Louise I believe to be a daughter of Jean Baptiste Monet and wife Marguerite Lauzon born cir 1815/20. He was a farmer and they moved around a lot as they have been found in St Jerome, St Eustache and Ste Adele, so far. Their children that I have are Adellphine b 1845 m Paul Demers Ottawa 1863, Jean Baptiste Arsene b 1846,Benjamin b 1848 d 1850, Louis b 1849 m Philomene Larivier, Noe b 1852 m #1 Emma Horten, #2 Exilda Boucher and possibly two other daughters I have no definite proof on Josephine and Auxilda. These Gareau migrated to Ogdensburg, St Lawrence County NY in the mid 1860s.
If you are missing any of the above families, so am I, please e mail me direct at kmjmd@northnet.org if you think you can help. Any information would be very helpful as I have not yet been very successful in finding information about this side of my family. Thanks.
Would like to know where your Irish ancestors came from in Ireland before they settled in the Greater Hull/Papineau County area during the 1810s and 1820s. My ggg-grandparents Thomas Spooner and his wife Anastasia O'Grady settled in Buckingham, PQ in 1825 supposedly from Tipperary. Would like to form an Irish emigrant resigtry in order to get a concensus where in Ireland most of them came from before coming to this particular area. Again report names and exact locations in Ireland.

Early Catholic Parish circa 1830's Vinton (Franktown) , QC

Hello,

Does anyone know the names of the Catholic parishes that were in existence in Franktown (Vinton) Quebec circa the 1830's-? I'm trying to locate marriage records for the following couple:

Roderick MCCOSHEN, MCCOUCHIN, b. 1806.
Elisabeth NESBITT, NISBETT, b. 1811.

Their children were baptized at St. Anne's, Calumet Island, QC, but those records begin in 1846. So Roderick and Elisabeth couldn't be there. I don't have the full St. Anne's records but I believe their 1st child, Joh, was born c. 1833-1838. John married Julie Agnes PERRAULT.

The 1842 Vinton census from the Shawville Archives states that Roderick was an "agent" and there are (6) members in the family.

I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Carol V.
California

Was hoping someone would know something of a male Baulne who died on the Post Office or Town Hall steps in or around Masson, Quebec... sometime between 1907 and 1910. He would have been a young man and supposedly it was a shock because it was listed as heart attack or something. Haven't been able to find anything on this or his identity and he was my great-grandfather so I'm at a standstill. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

France Tessier dit Lavigne was baptised in Fassett in 1852. His wife Joséphine Campeau was baptized in the St Luc parish church in Curran Ontario in 1863.
