I would imagine if land was the driving force behind the move, the land probably was Homestead land. Men were offered a section of land to develop for a small application fee. The Sask Archives Board has all the Homesteading records and they are very helpful in doing searches and sending out the documents. http://www.saskarchives.com/
The Homesteading was hard work and at times, people left their Homestead and went home either because it proved to be too difficult to keep up, they fell ill or they were denied Patent. The SK Archives will have the information if it exists. Good Luck!
