Have you seen Rev. Thomas Warren's book on the History & Genealogy of the Warren family? In it there is mention of John Warren of Glasgow, Scotland (m) Martha McEllan and had three sons John of Michigan (a farmer), who has issue: Alexander of Bristol, Canada (m) Miss Cuthbertson and had issue and finally James Warren who also married and had issue.
As you mentioned Thomas's name being Cuthbertson - are these your ancestors.
