Snipe Lake district lost one of its earliest pioneers February 19, when Mr. Thomas C. WARREN passed away suddenly after a short illness in the Eston Hospital.
Mr. WARREN was born in Bristol, Quebec, February 10, 1873. He came west in 1906 and filed on a homestead in the Snipe Lake district in July of that year. he has been a permanent resident in the district, farming with his brother William since that time. Mr. WARREN served as secretary of the Snipe Lake School Board for 31 years and also served several years on the Snipe Lake Church and Telephone Boards, and was a member of the council.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 22 at 2 o'clock from the Eston United Church. The choir led in the singing of the hymns, "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" and "Abide With Me"
A special selection "Crossing The Bar" was rendered by James Trembly.
He is survived by his four sisters, Mrs. M.I. ORR of Snipe Lake, Mrs. Martha HAMILTON, Aberdeen, Washington, Mrs. James GLENN, New Westminster and Mr. Kathleen MILLER, Toronto; two brothers, William and Alex of Snipe Lake and 31 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Frank HAMILTON, William Hulgan, Nels Gavle, Andy Richardson, Neville Williams and Ray Andrews.
Funera services were conducted by Rev. O. Rollis. Interment was made in the Eston Cemetery.
