Does anyone have any information regarding a lady called Mary Daly/Daley (my Great, great Grand Aunt)? Mary died in Salford, England in 1937; she was born before 1860. We understand Mary spent some time in Kinistino, Sask. Canada but returned to the UK around the 1920's.
If anyone has any information regarding this lady, or how to obtain this kind of information, I would be very grateful for any help!

BREIMON, Rudolph C and Josephine Erickson, Kinistino

My mother-in-law's family lived in Kinistino and she had an embroidery of the town's name on her wall all her life. She died this week and of course I didn't ask in time.

The family was Rudolph C ( b 1870 in Minnesota) and Josephine Erickson Breimon (b 1881 Norway), with children named Mabel, Edna Violet, Ruby Josephine, and Robert (b July 12, 1908). In June 1912 the family emigrated to Montana, passing through North Dakota Portal. Rudolph may have been a horse trader. Some other family members at the funeral thought they lived in a log cabin in Kinistino.
Any hints or clues are so welcome.

HALL, COUCH, Red Deer Hill

Hi there,

Am looking for William James (Jas) Hall who lived and worked as a blacksmith in the village of Red Deer Hill, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in the period around 1901-1922. Looks like William James (Jas) Hall was living and working in Red Deer Hill, while his wife and children were living in Blake, Huron County, Ontario in 1906. Perhaps his wife and children joined him later in Red Deer Hill after 1906; cannot find them as a family unit on the Canadian 1911 census though.

William James (Jas) Hall and his family appear on the 1901 Canadain census living in Hibbert Township, West Perth County, Ontario. James is listed as farm labour.

Head: William James Hall, b. April 02, 1871, Township of Manvers, Pontypool, Ontario

Wife: Mary Lavina Couch, b. January 02, 1876, Hibbert Township, South Huron County, Ontario
Marriage: September 04, 1895, Hibbert Township, West Perth County, Ontario

Children:
Wilbert, Clarence, Gladys, James Leslie. All the children were born in Ontario.

Gladys Hall is found living in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1927 as Gladys Wilson. Her address was 1097-4th Avenue N.E., Moose Jaw.

Regards,
Dan Kennedy
London, Ontario
couchresearch@gmail.com

John Burnett Adams left Montrose, Scotland in 1921 bound for Toronto. As far as we know he married and had two daughters. His occupation was farming but we know he was in the Merchant Navy. We have a Christmas card from him posted in Prince Albert in 1941. We believe he may have died in 1954. He was the son of Thomas and Susan Adams.
Any information about John and his family will be very gratefully received.
Heather Adam

1911 Canadian census lookup

Am looking for help searching for William James Hall and Mary Lavina (Couch) Hall on the 1906 and 1911 Canadian census. William James Hall is believed to have lived in the Prince Albert, Saskatchewan area at the time of the birth of his child, Gladys Hannah Hall, back in Ontario around 1901; perhaps he should show up on the 1906 (?). Likely a surname spelling error, in addition to, both parents being married, but each living in different provinces during the taking of the census - including the children.

1901 Canadian Census for Hibbert Township, South Perth County, Ontario, Canada

Head: William Hall b. April 2, 1871, 29 yrs (born Township of Manvers, Pontypool, Ontario)

Wife: Mary L Hall, b. January 2, 1876, 25 years (born Perth County, Ontario)

Children:
Wilbert Hall, b. July 22, 1897, 3 years
Clarence Hall, b. March 22, 1900, 1 year

Marriage: September 4, 1895, Perth County, Ontario, Canada

1911 Canadian Census, Hibbert Township, South Perth County, Ontario, Canada, shows new child, Gladys Hall, living with Hannah South (correct spelling of South surname is Couch).
Head: Hannah South, b. April, 1839, 72 years
Granddaughter: Gladys Hall, b. February, 1902, 9 years

Cannot find William James Hall and May Lavina (Couch) Hall including children on the 1911 Canadian census.

Other possible residence could be Huron County, Ontario or Perth County, Ontario

Regards,
Dan Kennedy
London, Ontario
couchresearch@gmail.com
Obit for Henry Davy

My grandfather's name was Henry [Harry] William Davy and he lived in Prince Albert from the early 1900's to the early 1950's when he and my grandmother moved to Oregon. He died there sometime in the 50's, there's no one alive who remembers exactly when. I was wondering if it was possible that a obituary was sent from Oregon to P.A. and printed in the paper there. Does anyone have any suggestions about finding out? Thanks for any help you can give, Mike O'Toole, Celista B.C.

Looking for family of Alex Wolkowicz b March 17, 1874 in Stojanow, Galicia, who had sons Jack/John (Prince Albert) also born in Stojanow Mar. 10, 1908, Harvey (Vernon BC), Nick (shell shock in the 40's and died), and Steve (from Alex's second marriage?) and a daughter Mary, my mother who married Andrew Johnson and lived in Vancouver from late 30's till she died in 92. Jack was married to Enid - address in the 50's was 530 - 22 St east in Prince Albert and they had a place at Torch River: a son died in the 50's perhaps Dale., another son Ray and a daughter Sheena. In 1948 the Johnson family - Andy, Mary (Marie), twins Barbara and Barry b1940, and Brenda b1945 visited gf in Tway (his second wife was alive and I remember she was blind), and Jack and family in Prince Albert.

Mary (marie) used as a surname anything but Wolkowicz - I recall Walker, Walch and maybe Wolk. I cannot find any reference in Sask to her brothers and we Johnson's would like to hook up with their families and fill in all those blanks. Am also working on the Galicia sites - found the town but again nothing works with the name Wolkowicz other than it is Polish and means son of. I am using this name because it was on his Naturalization paper which Mother had a copy of.

Hoping to hear any news, Barbara Johnson

Does anyone know what happen to The Davis Church records prior to 1928? I have checked with the Methodist and Presbyterian church archives and no one seems to have them. The Davis church was on land given to them by my great grandfather, Frank David Cherry. His children were baptised there in 1902. Can anyone tell me about this church and where the records may be as well as some proof they acquired the land from him? It is all for genealogy research.

His mother's name was Anna Kristensdotter born 1857, and his father was unknown.
I know it's not much, but I still hope someone can tell me something! Even if it's small.

/Erika

Searching for information on William McKay who married Jemima Isbister. They initially lived in North Battleford, then on to Prince Albert area - possibly Shell Lake, Mont Nebo. William was likely married several times but because there seem to have been more than one William McKay in the area it's hard to track. I believe that he died sometime in the 1940's. Jemima about 1963. Both were metis.

Also looking for a Harold Craig who was the father of my grandmother - mother again Jemima Isbister.

He died in 1935 of pleurisy. I was wondering if anyone would have access to which cemetary he was buried in or any records of him in the library there. If you have anything I would sincerely appreciate hearing about it. Thank you very much.
Janie

The couple died around 1902-03, from thyphoid. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

The Markley Family must have settled there around `1820. My Mother, Ethel Markley was born in 1910, she was the youngest of 13 sibblings. She had a brother George. Her Mothers name was Emma and her Dad I believe was William. I know one of her Sisters settled in Greenwood, B.C. Ethel was born in Fairy Glen, would there have been a Hospital there? Hopefully someone will be able to help, or if there are any Markleys left around there. I appreciate all the help i can get. Yours truly, Irene

In 1886, Leonhard Johannessen of Hanberget farm, his wife Marianne Kristoffersdatter (Christophersen) and their six children immigrated from Borge, Lofoten Islands, in Norway. Their destination was Kinistino. As was the custom for many Norwegian immigrants, they took their farm name HANBERG upon arrival. I know one of the children was named Henning Hanberg born July 1871, another was Martin born April 1869. I am looking for descendants or any information.

My husband and I lived in the Kinistino district until 1969. We knew an Allen Hanberg. He would be the son of the man(Martin Hanberg) you mention. He and his wife Pat Serviss Hanberg had 8 children and lived in the Melfort District. Allen worked in the Post Office at Melfort, Saskatchewan.
Allen was very musical and played the Saxaphone in the local Selnes Orchestra.
Their children were: Maurice 1942, Donald 1945, Lois, Roger, Heather, Bonny, Raymond and Marilyn. I don't know whether any of these children live in Melfort now? Allen's sister Mae Hanberg married Peter Boulanger and they had 7 children as well. Their names are: Vincent, Phyllis, Louise, Mary, John, Lorrette and Peter. They grew up in St. Brieux, Sask.
Probably most of them still live there. I hope you could contact them, namely Vincent, John or Peter Boulanger. They would probably be in their 60-70's.

Ernest Coster

Trying to trace descendants of Ernest Coster, born 20 Oct 1865/1868 in Hanwell in Middlesex England. Son of Harriet and William Coster, a surgeon. Emigrated to Canada c1886. Married Mary Jane (surname unknown). 1901 Census in Prince Albert Saskatchewen, with wife and 6 children (Harold, Violet, Earnest, Herbert, Daisie, Nellie - age 11 to 2) all born Northwest territories. In 1906, still in Prince Albert Sask. Has two more children Robert (4) and Dorothy (1). No further trace. In 1914 his son Ernest's papers for joining the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary force state his next of kin is Jane Coster (he is unmarried, so is this his mother Mary Jane - and if so where is father Ernest?) Son Ernest went on to marry Madeline from Ontario and eventually moved to Pontiac Oakland Michigan. He died in 1989 in Auburn Heights Oakland Michigan. I want to know when Ernest senior died? Also, trying to trace living descendants who may have photographs of Harriet Coster. After the early death of her husband William (in 1870) she became the matron of one of London's most prestigious hospitals, St George's. She held the post for 25 years. She led a very hard life full of sorrow. Ernest snr was her only surviving child when she died in 1915, and according to her will she left most of her possessions (including her hospital silver) to him. I am preparing a biography of this woman, as an example of how determined Victorian women from humble backgrounds (her father was a gardener) could make their way to the upper tiers of London society. I am desparately looking for pictures of this woman. Her husband was reported to be a keen amateur photographer, so he must have taken pictures of her. Does anyone out there recognise this family? and maybe in an old crate of tin box have photos of an old Victorian nurse who just might be Harriet???

They had 6 children: Elmer Clifton (Cliff), Orrie, Stuart, Alvin, Lyle and Howard.

Both Annie Pettapiece Hannah and her husband, Herbert Hannah died in Prince Albert in April 1960 and were buried there.(From a Pettapiece family researcher - no more info)

A nephew in Ontario of both Charles Amos and Annie wrote in 1963 that Amos was living in Prince Albert and was President of the Organization of the Blind. (He also wrote that Annie was living in Prince Albert so he was unaware that she had died.)

A researcher has said that Amos Charles is buried in Winnipeg in 1968 (no source and no burial place). Annie Hayes Pettapiece died in 1977 (no source and no death or burial place)

Are there any records of these two families in Prince Albert?

My grandfather, Thomas Edward McCorrister, was born in Prince Albert 4/24/1890, SK Reg. #7969. His parents are listed as Edward McCorrister and Isabel Pruden. It appears Edward died shortly after Thomas' birth. Isabel then remarried a David Williamson and they came to the U.S. in 1903.

It appears that Edward may have been born abt 1869 the son of Thomas McCorrister and Mary Stevens. I'm looking for confirmation as to Edward's parents and any additional related information that may be available. Thanks.

Are there death or cemtery records that can be searched.
Both men were born in Quebec to Sifroi & Helene Menard, Simeon in 1871 and Delplis in 1867. We have a postcard from another brother in the States, to his wife, postmarked Dec. 12, 1919 saying he is visiting Simeon & Delplis in Prince Albert. Other names mentioned on the postcard were Marie & Georginna. Also in 1923 there is a newspaper account of Simeon from Prince Albert visiting his brother in the States.

I have searched the Land Grants online and found the following:
Simon Menard SE-24-21-5-W1
Delphis Menard NW-30-24-1-W1
Simon Menard SW-32-27-14-W2
Can anyone tell me where this land is located.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
shearg

The 1906 Census for City of Prince Albert indicates that Joseph Buckley Haigh came to Canada in 1902. Joseph left his wife and two daughters in Golcar, Yorkshire and they came to Canada later and paid their own way.

J B Haigh made application for Homestead Entry in 1908, was granted the Patent for the land in 1913 and sold the land in 1921.

Suggestions wanted/needed on how I can
1)determine the ship on which he travelled to Canada from England;
2)determine where he was living from 1902-1906
3)determine where he was living after 1921.

I know that J B Haigh's wife and children were living in Prince Albert with Thomas Albert Bird in 1906 and had taken his name (married?). J B Haigh died in Victoria, BC in 1947 aged 90.

Henry Nelson McCullough

Hello,

I am researching my family history. These are the ancestors about whom I would love to find more information.

My great great great grandparents (on my father’s side) were Mary Louise St. Pierre and Francois Courchene. These two people had a daughter, my great great grandmother, Mary St. Anne Courchene. Mary St. Anne Courchene was born 10 October 1866 at Devil’s Lake, Minnesota Territory (North Dakota). Mary St. Anne Courchene married Henry McCullough Ford on 28 January 1884 at St. Peter’s Mission, Cascade County, Montana Territory. (I believe that this is the same time that Louis Riel was teaching there.) Henry McCullough Ford was born 4 January 1863 at Fort Benton, Montana. Henry McCullough Ford’s parents were: Mary Louise (Epsen-eka) Choquette and Henry Nelson McCullough. The story goes that Henry Nelson McCullough died in some sort of train accident in St. Louis around 1858??? (I suspect that this is St. Louis, Saskatchewan, but I am not sure.) (The date of 1858 does not seem to fit in with the other dates, for example, Henry McCullough Ford was born in 1863, so how could he be the son of a man who died in 1858?). Mary Louise (Epsen-eka) Choquette went on to “marry” Sam Ford, and that is how her son by Henry Nelson McCullough became the stepson of Sam Ford and became Henry McCullough Ford. (Mary Louise (Epsen-eka) Choquette had a son with Sam Ford, who was Joseph Ford, born in 1868.) One of the children of Mary St. Anne Courchene and Henry McCullough Ford was Florastiene Marie Ford, who is my great grandmother. Florastiene was born 18 February 1888, I believe she was born in Augusta, Montana (the Sun River area).

Can you help me with any further information about these people? Thank you!

I am looking for any information of the family name Mary Woods who married benjamin Jentry Woods. She is to have passed away in the Prince Albert area about 1932. She also has the following children, Elan, Daniel, Benjamin J., Bacchus, and Cyrus. They immigrated from the states, and some of the family I believed lived for a while around Davidson. Mary's maiden name was Leech (could also be spelt Leitch, Leach). I would appreciate to find out if she did live here, and when she came, and any information such as dates of death etc. Thanks Heather.

I am trying to find marriage information for Richard Alderson, an Anglican minister. His wife's first names are Louise Mary. I would like to know her maiden name or anything that might lead me to information about her. Richard shows up as a single man in the 1911 Census of Canada at Prince Albert. He was born in England about May 1877. By 1919 he was married and living in Chemainus on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. From there he was transfered by the church to Armstrong, British Columbia. In 1924 the Armstrong newspaper reported that "Mrs. Alderson and two children have returned from visiting her sister and Archdeacon and Mrs. Hayes in Calgary, Alberta". In 1925 the family returned to England. In 1936 Rev. R. Alderson inducted to Rectorship at Sawley, Yorkshire. Rev. Alderson sent a letter to someone in Armstrong, B.C. in the summer of 1957 saying that Louise had died.

In search of info regarding Letendre family Melfort 1971

I am looking for ANY information about Jeanette Letendre &/or her family. They lived in Melfort and Jeanette was the oldest of 5 or maybe 4 children. She worked in a drug store and as a Candy Striper in a Seniors home. In 1971, she was 16 years old. She did me a huge favour that was life changing and I have never been able to thank her. Could you please help me locate her or share any info you may have on her family.
Thank you for your help in advance!
Lara :-)
