It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Balogh who passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Regina General Hospital.
Eva is survived by her son Rodney Balogh; brother Michael Flick; great granddaughters Donna Mae and Zoee Millius; great great granddaughter Ava Marie Millius; granddaughter-in-law Shanna Blackwood; brotherin-law Bill Rumpel, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Eva was predeceased by her parents Michael and Louise Flick, first husband Leo Gorski, second husband Ernest Balogh, daughter Donna Mae Millius (nee Gorski), grandson Richard Millius, niece Debbie Rumpel, brother Edward Flick, and sisters Louise Rumpel and Lena Scheel. Eva was born on June 19, 1925 in Regina, where she lived her entire life. She attended St. Augustine Elementary and Balfour High School, leaving school after grade 10, She then went to work at the Regina General Hospital where she spent her entire 35 year career, working in such areas as dietary, children's ward, operating room, and mail room. She was a proud employee of the hospital and had many great memories of the work she had accomplished and the people she worked with. In 1976 she became the supervisor of the mail room but back problems forced her to take early retirement later that year. In retirement she enjoyed cooking, canning, playing bingo, the occasional trip to Casino Regina, spectator sports and spending time with her grandson and great granddaughters. Family was everything to Eva and she was the family care giver, assisting many in the family through periods of illness and disability, often assisting several family members simultaneously, even at great hardship to herself. She always put family ahead of herself. She was our rock. Eva was a very proud and principled person, firm in her beliefs. She was quick witted, spirited, meant what she said and said what she meant, but never intending to offend anyone. She was also a very kind hearted and caring person, always enjoying a good visit. She particularly enjoyed socializing over a home cooked meal with company. Nobody ever left her home hungry. Eva's family is blessed with the love and prayers of all who knew her and thanks for all the support. Special thanks to her family doctor Dr. Zaman, all the staff at Parkside Extendicare, especially those on South Wing, all the staff at the Regina General Hospital emergency and 5A nursing staff and doctors Bowen and Zia Rehman. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, Saskatchewan.
