Surnames: USSELMAN, FISHER, SEITZ/SIETZ
I am searching for information on the USSELMAN family originally from Selz, Odessa, Russia who emigrated to South Dakota
in 1889 and later to Saskatchewan and Alberta.
My great-great grandfather is John USSELMAN who married Mary DATLING (possibly DETTLING) in South Dakota.
They had 16 living children: the first six or so born in South Dakota, then two, perhaps three, in Kansas, five in Beiseker, AB,
two in Oregon, and the last in Beiseker.
Elizabeth USSELMAN is their daughter, born in North Dakota. She married John Frank FISHER in 1920 in Beiseker, AB.
After that I lost track of her until a nephew of hers wrote a history on the USSELMAN family for the book _Golden Heritage
of Beiseker_ which mentioned that as of printing -- in 1977 -- Elizabeth and Frank were in Luseland, SK. I did a search for
Luseland and I got the cemetery transcriptions for them. I have recently come across an article -- supposed to have been
written by John himself -- out of a book from a relative of theirs, but as it was unattributed by the time I received a copy of it, I
don't know what book it's from. In the article, John says he moved south of Luseland in 1927, then to Cactus Lake by 1932
to 15 years, then to Provost for one year and back to Cactus Lake for another 19 years. By 1967 they had moved to Luseland
permanently.
Elizabeth's sister Margaret USSELMAN married a Peter KIRCHGESSNER (KERCHGESNER) and in 1977 they were living
in Unity, SK. And this is all the information I have on this couple. I looked for them in the cemetery transcriptions for Pleasant
View Cemetery, Unity that are online with those of Luseland and they are not listed.
Elizabeth's brother, Anton, married an Elizabeth (Lizzie) SEITZ in Salvador, SK in 1920, and another of Elizabeth's brothers,
Emanuel, married Lizzie's sister, Johanna (Jenny) in Salvador in 1926.
Anton USSELMAN -- who I think might have been John USSELMAN's brother -- was buried in Pleasant View Cemetery,
Unity, SK in 1964. Anton had gone to Saskatchewan at some point and was believed to have been in Salvador.
Any information or direction in which to look for information on these individuals is very much appreciated. Please email me at
