Thanks for the info on the Duclaux family. My niece, her mother Liliane Duclaux, has had numerous matches on her DNA so I am thinking that their may be some connection with Duclaux's of Canada. I will continue to search.

Hi Larry. My name is Valerie Schmalz and my husband is Donald Frederick Schmalz. Fred and I live in Gunnison, CO and own Schmalz Construction. vschmalz@hotmail.com. My father-in-law Don(deceased)father was Anton (Tony) Schmalz who lived outside Delta, CO (Olathe). Grandpa came to the US with his father, Anton from Mariensberg, Russia. Grandpa was married to Mollie SCHMALTZ. Her family was from Gallup.I know she had a brother who lived in Pueblo and extended family still in Gallup. Think Grandma and Grandpa both came from the same area in Russia, along the Volga. We are interested in any information you might have.

My sister-in-law was born in Paris on 05 Mar. 19, 1937. Her father was Jean Duclaux and her mother was Blanch Gestin. Blanch was born I believe in Vanne Brittany 13 Jun 1914 and was raised in a convent. Blanch's parents were Joseph Gestin and her mother Maria Guyonvarche born May 1878 and died kn 1951. Blanch was a twin a the boy died at birth. She had two sisters: Alieene and Rosalin I believe the sisters remained in France. Blanch and Jean Duclaux divorced and she remarried an american GI, Lawrence Underwood, Paris. She and her two daughters left France on July 16, 1946 aboard the Holbrook for the United states where they became citizens.
If you have any information regarding this family it would be greatly appreciated as nothing more is known about Jean Duclaux and his family or the Gestins.

I am so certian that we share some family history! I am a descendant of Frank Fisher, born Dec 1860 in Odessa, Russia, who married Mary Anna Matt, born 1863 in Russia. She died in Missouri in 1921, and her death record says her parents were George Matt and Grace Eckart. Frank and Mary immigrated to Canada about 1888.

Haven't been able to find them as of yet in Russia, but still hunting. Wondering if Mary Anna Matt was a sister to Kosmos.

I am researching any connection of Joseph Wollbaum to George Wollbaum and Andreas Wollbaum who immigrated from South Russia to Saskatchewan. I have 2 marriage certificates that list George and Andreas listing their parents as Ludwig Wohlbaum and Katherine Deustch. I am trying to connect Joseph as a brother that immigrated later. I have his homestead records for SE of 31-19-25 W3. On them he states he arrived in Canada in October of 1911 with his wife and one other person, not under the age of 2. On the sworn statement he states they lived with his brother-in-law on the land location of NE 14-19-25-W3, I also looked this up and that land belonged to George Heck, 33 yrs old of Elardee, Sask. He obtained his entry on 11 July 1911. George and his wife and 2 children have lived on this land location since April of 1912. Does George Heck belong in anyones tree? If he does I have his homestead papers and would be willing to give them to you if you want them.

My husband George's grand father was Anton Schmalz.
and he was Andrew's older brother.
My Father Inlaw Manuel Schmalz was born in Marienberg and came to the United States in 1907 with them.
I was told that Andrew came to a reunion in Delta Colorado many years ago but I have not been able to find any information. Andrew's wife also came to the US with them and her Father Was Victor George Dukart. One of their Daughters, Amelia Ann Married a Tony Hausner who is the Brother inlaw of one of Anton's daughter's husband. My name is Larry Schmaltz. My grandfather was Andrew Schmaltz. He came from Marienberg in Russia. I know his brother Anthony (Anton) lived in Colorado but I never met his family. My father, Charles John Schmaltz went to a family reunion in Colorado back around 1963. My younger sister, Carolyn was there and met families with the name of Scheetz at the reunion. She kept up with a daughter Loretta for many years.
My grandfather settled in Gallup, NM. He spelled his name with a "T" and his brother spelled it without the "T".
My dad's family moved to Oregon when I was a baby. I was not around my grandfather much and therefore did not get to learn much family history from him. I have just been trying to piece things together and always looking for new information.

Eric Romanowski who lived is swift current in the 1906 census was my husbands great uncle. His dad was Albert Franz Romanowski born 1868 in poland. His dad Albert arrived in New york in 1888 and later moved to Whiteside Illinois and Married Martha Maria Neumann in 1893. They had 6 children and then moved to saskatchewan in the early 1900's.

There are two Josefstals/Josephstals. One in Grossliebenthal, Odessa, and the other in the Volga area. The German Russia Heritage Society has the most information about the Grossliebenthal, Odessa area and sstanger 1 gave you the link to the Josephstal, Volga website. The American Historical Society of German Russians also has Volga family research.

Some of my Leibels married Schmalzs/Schmaltzs. Josef Schmalz and his family were Catholics from Kandel, Kutschurgan, Odessa, Russia and emigrated to North Dakota, USA and then to the Beiseker area near Calgary, Alberta. Butch gave you the link to find the local history book for that Schmaltz family.

Anton George Schmalz was born in Josephstal in 1876, his brother Joseph "oska" was born in 1871. The youngest Andrew was born in 1888 in Josephstal. From there they went to Marienberg"Biziuk" in 1893 to the US in 1907 second attempt.
Their Father Anton Schmalz came from Semenowka in the 1860s.
They came through Santa Cruz Texas from Mexico.
I was reaching out to anyone who has something on Josephstal hoping to find some information. I just don't seem to find the Schmalz name.

The Sebastian Froehlich who did the family history book was the great-grandson of Karl Ludwig.

Just a quick hello Bobbi! I just spoke with your dad! I am his cousin. My mom was your grandpa Charlies sister. I haven't seen you since you were a baby when you and your mom and grandma Agatha came to our house in Ont. for a visit. I understand you are a new mom! Congratulations!
