I am researching the EASTON line in Swift Current. My Great Grandparents Rosina Ann EASTON & George Alfred EASTON and my Great Grand Aunt Dorothy Ann Easton and my Great Grand Uncle Frederick Nelson EASTON came to Swift Current in 1912-1913 and
took Canadian citizenship according to records I have found. Also there is a family story of a marriage to a local indigneous person by a male member of my family. I have yet to confirm this.If there are any relations to these people I would really like them to contact me if they have any information at all.My email is billybob88@live.com.au.
Billy Olney (Australia)

I also am a gr. granddaughter of Frances Ostrom. Her daughter, Catherine Jane Ostrom/Medforth my grandmother aka as Jane Kelly & Jenny. I remember Aunt Bertie and Mildred very well. They visited and stayed at our place many times. Mildred left me her china tea set when she died. However I believe that Aunt Bertie was not Frances's sister but Catherine's sister, Cynthia Emma Alberta Ostrom married John Wesley Clark. Don't know if you have found out anymore info about her since this was posted in 2003. You can contact me at gerrihopkins@rogers.com

I have some photos and some information, I will dig it up and let you know. There is a book out called Our Heritage: A View from the Butte volume 2 that has some information in it. For Horace death I only have that he was buried in Tegasky, SK and I have nothing yet on Edith. Clarence was my grandfather and he died May 22, 1988 and Albert died October 1988. If you need anything specific please let me know and please feel free to share what you know, they are a hard family to find.

Hi Stella,
Thank you for your suggestions. I have actually been lucky to compile quite a bit of information since that post 3 years ago. I even found some "live ones" to help out.
I have yet to confirm that Mary Jane Georgina (Jenny Henderson) Glennie is buried in Maple Creek community cemetery where her husband is, but I am assuming so. Perhaps her name was overlooked when the transcript was made, or maybe her name was not engraved on the stone.
I do not have obituaries for the Sask. deaths, but was given some information about the family that was printed in "Recollections of Golden Prairie" which was very helpful.
I am grateful for your interest in my cause. All offers are appreciated.

Hi Trish,
My Dad kept in regular contact with George Stalker until George died about 10 years ago. The George I knew stayed in the RAF until retirement. He had various placings - Driffield, Watton, West Raynham (Norfolk), Cyprus, Pershore. George's daughter came to my Dad's funeral 6 years ago. I am still in contact with her. What is the source of your interest in George Stalker? Best to contact me by email on: clivewood.1@gmail.com.
Clive

Hi I was just reading your post. I know it was a couple of years since you posted it but I have only just stumbled on it. I was looking for information on my great uncle George A Stalker. I know he later went to bombers and became a flt lt where he earned an mbe. and was later in 207 squadron He was a lovely man, most often had a moustache. I don't know what if any information you may have but I would be extremely grateful and happy for anything that helps my jigsaw. Many thanks in advance TRISH Roberts

Hello Butch,
I have been browsing the net, and discovered that the Louis McGuire who married Luella McNabb (as referenced in the book you found) changed his name in 1946 from Louis Boyd Felardeau to Louis Boyd McGuire. Could he have been adopted by Claude and his wife? There is no mention of Claude in Louis' obituary, but it does mention his parents Delbert & Irene Felardeau. I have Claude McGuire crossing into Montana for a visit in 1936, with Louie McGuire.

I too am looking for anything on the Christiansons from Gull Lake and area. My father is Phillip Edward Christianson and was born in Gull Lake 1930 . His parents were Margaret Helen Muller and Malvin Christianson . Malvins father was Ole Christianson who immigrated from the USA. South Dakota around 1910-11. My father has passed away before I could ask him any family history. To my surprised by reading about William Christianson owning a service station as it turns out my father owned and ran several service station throughout B.C. He was a very successful master mechanic.I was wondering if William and Ole are related in some way . I was also wondering how my father new so much about mechanics at such a young age.Did William show him the trade.?

Australia
or for wife Ella McGUIRE might be.
Sask Genealogical Society may be able to assist.
It is possible that the family may not have stayed in Saskatchewan - or even Canada.

Search: Our Roots/NosRacines
Family may have submitted family history/stories to a Local History Book Project in the late 1980's
some of these books have been digitalized.

Perhaps someone can search 1916 Census for Saskatchewan.
Hello Stella,
Thank you for taking the trouble to reply with the information and advice.
Yes, that is the same Claude. He was born Stephen Claude Hamilton McGuire in 1879 at Echunga South Australia, but seems to have been known as Claude his whole life (even on official documents). While serving in South Africa in 1901 during the 2nd Anglo-Boer War, Claude was apparently shot while lying down shooting at the enemy. The bullet passed through his shoulder, both lungs and just missed his spine and kidneys. Surviving against all the odds, he was given advice that Canada might suit his recovery better. He moved there in about 1902 (confirmed by your record).
Regarding why he was not put on the birth certificate is open to speculation. Claude was working as a farm labourer in the same area as my great-grandmother was as a house maid. Both of them would have been only 18 at the time. Whether he even knew about the pregnancy is unknown. My grandmother was born in the Lying-in Hospital at the State Destitute Asylum, which was the norm for single mothers of little or no means. There is no father listed on the certificate, but Claude is listed as the father in other asylum documentation in archives.
Would you happen to know how I might find his death record in Saskatchewan?
Cheers,
Darren

McGuire connections

Hello all,
I have recently been given the name of my grandmother's father. For many years it has been a blank spot, both on her birth certificate, and my family tree. She has long since passed away, but I would love to trace him and his family.
So far, I have discovered Claude McGuire settled in Saskatchewan around 1901 from South Australia via England, possibly in the Bracken area, as that was where he was living by 1915 (according to a newspaper article when he came back to visit family). I have been given these bits of information by other kind researchers, as well as a later border crossing record that said his wife was named Ella, and possibly a son Louie.
I would love to find any further information, or make connection with other researchers tracing this family.

Cheers,
Darren in South Australia
