In my search for the parentage of my paternal great-grandmother, Cantalicia GREENE(b.Feb.6,1868) I have recently discovered that her mother's surname was MARQUEZ.
GREENE,her father's surname...(obviously not hispanic) possibly helps explain the fact that Cantalicia was blonde,blue-eyed and said to be part french.
Cantalicia married (1) Jose de CASTILLO. On Dec. 11 1888, my grandmother Lucrecia was born in La Paz, Baja California Sur. The names of her siblings were: Louisa, Maria, Jose, Constance, and Jenny. Cantalicia married (2) Leocadio FIERRO and had two more children...Rudolfo and Minnie. Eventually,(before 1906) the family migrated to Ensenada...and finally, to San Diego, Ca.
I would really appreciate any info or suggestions anyone could give that could possibly help me fill in some of the gaps concerning the origins and identities of Cantalicia's parents.
Thank You
