I am currently trying to track down an ancestor that lived in Jalisco, Mexico who was supposedly from Germany. Although the older members of my family are positive that this person did indeed exist, no one knows which side of the family they are from or where they might have lived.

Here is what I know:

1. Most of my known relatives from the late 1800s are from Los Altos de Jalisco and Tecolotlán and moved to Villa de Purificacion. Their family names are Soltero, Gudino, Pelayo, Domingues, and Rosales.

2. The original German last name started with a "Z." (Possibly Zuman, Zimmerman, or Zasueta)

Does anyone know which areas in Jalisco would have Germans in the early 1800s?
