I am hoping to find what cemetery in Mexico City that my daughter's father (my ex-husband) is buried. His name was Bruce Rodrigo (Roderick) Arroyo Spaulding. Bruce was a helicopter pilot who worked in Guadalajara, Mexico City and later in California.

He died of AIDS on January 10, 1991, one of the first people in Mexico to die from AIDS. Because of this, his family chose to make a secret of his death (age age 36), did not even have a ceremony or let anyone know where he is buried. Shameful, sad.

My daughter would love to find her father's resting place. He was born on August 15, 1954. Family members residing in Mexico DF are Monica Arroyo and Tomas Arroyo. Father was Ramon Tomas Arroyo Mercado.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Where to Begin?

Where do you start when you know so little? My Grandfather was born (or at least raised) in Toluca, Mexico. We always thought his name was Alberto Torres. I have just recently learned his real name was Filogonio Olivares and his Mother's last name was Torres. Apparently he changed his name when he came to America around 1927. He had always said he was half Yaqui Indian, but they seem to have been in an area more Northwest than Toluca. I don't know any brother or sister names or first names for parents. I can't find a border crossing, but once he gets to Ohio his life is an open book. Is it hopeless?

My uncle Robert Bruce Connolly (b 15 Jul 1931) left the US, and ended up in Mexico. He had a daughter with a woman named Guadelupe Espinoza. They were never married, but they were together until his death (24 Feb 1976), possibly in an earthquake.

His daughter's name is Bertha, she possibly married a man with last name Coello.

The embassy in Mexico (1977) listed this address for her as
Calle Penitas #3
Col. San Lucas Patoni
Tialnepantla, Edo. de Mexico
Mexico

I also have an another address, same area, but not sure of the date.

I am new to searching Mexican records, so any help would be appreciated

Hello,

I’m trying to find out how I can have someone perform a baptismal lookup for one of my ancestors. I’m researching Casimino TELLES, born 4 March 1832 in Mexico City Mexico. He immigrated to Louisiana in the mid 1800’s after which time completed his naturalization. His birth date and location is based on his naturalization papers. His profession in the 1870 census was listed as “Printer”. The family stories say his family immigrated from Castile, Spain to Mexico on a Spanish Land Grant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Tony Loy
Long Post, Bilingue (Manuel Garcia, Arandas), Please Read

I would greatly appreciate anybody who can help me find my mother’s father’s family Manuel Garcia 1910, Arandas Jalisco, Mexico. I hope I can find some of her family before she dies. This is her lifelong dream. I also need information on the following last names: Garcia, (Perez, Macias Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico and la Yesca, Nayarit, Mexico, Trujillo Guadalajara, Mexico), (Espinosa, Arciniega, Serna, Godines from Mexico, D.F.). Below you will find all the information that I have. All of the information that you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated for ever, Dr. Rosa Espinosa Garcia.

My great grandmother was Julia Macias she was born between 1890 and 1895 (born in either Tepic Nayarit or la Yesca, Nayarit). My great-grandmother had a brother Estanislao Macias (Tio Tany- used to sell churros in Guadalajara). My great-uncle Tany never married. My great grandmother married Mateo Macias apparently he was from Spain. They had two children:

Pablo Pérez Macias (Married Maria Guadalupe Andrade) and Rafaela Pérez Macias

GARCIA

Rafaela Pérez Macias (marry name: De León). My grandmother Rafaela had a daughter, my mother, Margarita (Cosme) Garcia Perez born in Guadalajara in 9-27-1940. My mother’s father was Manuel Garcia. My grandmother broke the relationship with my mom’s father when she realized he was married. My mother saw his father few times, and lost contact when my grandmother emigrated to Mexico, D.F. I do not know much about my grand father. Just that he was married and that he had children. My mother believes that he had a daughter that was also born in 1940 with the same name Margarita. She believes she had other children. She also believes that her father’s mother’s name was Marta. There is the rumor that my mother’s father comes from a large family, and that some of them lived in Mexico, D.F. and even in Laredo, Texas. My mother believes that Roque (Rogelio?) Garcia from Laredo who worked at La Posada in Laredo, Texas was her cousin. This man already died and she was unable to verify some of the information.

My grandmother Rafaela Perez Macias married Jesus De Leon Trujillo (who had been previously married). Rafaela Perez Macias and Jesus De Leon Trujillo had four children. Maria De Los Ángeles, Jesús, José Asunción (Jose had a twin who died as a baby) and Quirinito, who died as a very young child maybe 4 o 5 years old.

Espanol

The Arreagas left Spain on their own ships during the Inquisition and my great grandmother Ines Arreaga married my great grandfather Alexander (von)Krohn(enberg) from Russia, who designed(?) the mexican railroad. My grandmother Helen's sister married General Juan de la Cruz. Any ideas where I can find out more info?

MCMASTER, DINSMORE, HOLMES, HARDY

I am hunting for information about the MCMASTER family. My ancestor Dr. James Alexander MCMASTER (1836-after March 1936) took his family to Mexico in 1881 after the accidental death of his eldest son Frederick. His family included his wife Amy Ann (HARDY) MCMASTER (1832 -?) and their children. Lizzie/Licha b. 1858; George Albert MCMASTER (1863 - Oct 6, 1836) whose descendants still reside in Mexico DF.; Joseph Waldon MCMASTER (March 14, 1867 - Dec 10, 1931); Robert MCMASTER (1869-?);Amy (Anita) MCMASTER DINSMORE 1871 -?; MaryBelle (Marianita) MCMASTER HOLMES (March 23, 1873 - Nov 22, 1959). It is known that they were in Acumburo, possibly associated with the railroad there about 1898, Monterrey, and then later with Mexico D.F. from possibly the turn of the century on. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for info on Jack Zahler who owned a candy factory in Mexico City in the 1920s.

There are reports of him in 1926 articles in the NY Times and the Times Magazine. The articles say he was married and he was the vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.

We do not know what happened to Jack.

The 1926 articles are about the kidnapping and murder of a man from New York, who was in Jack's car.

A 1930 NV newspaper article about Mexico City includes "Former employees of the Zahler Candy Factory who also had been on hunger strike in the government building corridors, abandoned their movement Friday night".

My brother recently joined the LDS (known to most of us incorrectly as Mormons.). He is working on family genealogy, because they bring their ancestors retroactively into the fold.

He put me into www.familysearch.org which is the URL of the LDS genealogy group. Registration is free, though I have read there are more limits on non-members.

I am posting this because not long ago, they announed a free pdf guide to finding ancestors in Mexico. You might have to scan the pages after registering and logging in, due to limited time here, I am not going to post the link for download, assume you can all find it.

Note that they are not aggressive about pushing their faith on those who use their URL. There are links for those who want more information on church, but not an intrusion.

DePozo, Acevedo

I am looking for any relatives to my Grandfather Edward DePozo. My mother said he was born in Mexico city and as a young man became a citizen of the US, Chicago, Illinois. His family was originally from Barcalona, Spain. He married Hermina, who was called Minnie (nee Infanti) and they had 3 daughters and 2 sons in Chicago. One of his daughers, Leonore is my mother. I know he had a brother named Carlos and I remember 2 of his neices visiting us in Chicago. One was Maria Teresa Acevedo and her sister, Alejandro. We called them Mary Terry and Ollie. Maria Teresa used to call me Pretty Blue eyes growing up whenever she visited. If anyone has any information on DePozo or Acevedo, ( may be spelled Acevado ) Please let me know
Lisa Beiger

Hi,
I'm very new to this. I never knew my grandfather. He visited Jamaica over 60 years ago, where my father's mother lived. She had a child (my father) who never knew his father (Mr. Asencio of Mexico City). My grandmother refused (and still refuses) to talk about her ex-lover (my grandfather), so I have very little information to work with. I know he is deceased, but I would like to know if there is a way I can find out more about him, and my Mexican heritage. I live in Montreal, Canada. I imagine there must be many Asencio's in Mexico, so I am not sure how to proceed.

Sincerely,
Anthony

A humble (more or less) suggestion

I am not at all an official of this URL, so this may be an inappropriate suggestion. If so, moderators, feel free to delete it. Thank you.

Recently, I came to the Mexico Ancestry forums, and on another community forum, that for the state of Puebla, discovered a request for information on a family in a small mountain village, Tepexi de Rodriguez, Pue. My wife has family there, and knows the family the poster seeks. We have a house near there, and could have helped them communicate, but the original posting was made several years ago, and no one has responded to recent my offer of help. Clearly, the OP has given up on the posting.

Do understand that in Mexico, especially in rural areas, most people do not have computers, and when we add the chances of a Mexican from the country, where few folks speak English, using an English language forum, the chances of a response from that community are very low. Not impossible as we have seen; just very low.

So, if you post on a Mexico forum, be sure to check back every three months or so, indefinitely. It is almost an accident that a person from the USA knows Tepexi de R. and that family, and it was almost two years after OP before I discovered it.

Do not give up just because a long time passes with no response.
Various members of the Dobson family joined him to in the bookstore, including his sister, KATE MARGARET GALE KING. A nephew, WARREN GALE ( the son of KATE and her first husband ADELBERT GALE who died in 1901) was a mechanical engineer with The American Book and Printing Company. He and his wife VERA MARGARET HOPKINSON lived in Mexico City for 25 years until Warren was forced to return to Canada because of a heart condition. . Another nephew, REGINALD DOBSON, (son of JOHN HARRIS DOBSON) arrived in Mexico 1920 and worked in the bookstore for 5 years before moving on to other employment.

ALVER and ETHEL had a home in Mexico City and a small house in Cuernavaca where they spent weekends I believe they were planning to retire there. He died sometime during 1954 - 1956. I have no information on ETHEL’s birth or death.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can find the obituary and/or other information concerning ALVER ROWE DOBSON and his wife, ETHEL HARRIS DOBSON?

WARREN GALE & VERA HOPKINSON GALE lived in Mexico City for 25 years - friends of ANN MORROW & CHARLES LINDBURGH - He worked for AMERICAN BOOK AND PRINTING COMPANY in Mexico City

Researching my grandmother's first cousin's life.

VERA MARGARET HOPKINSON was the daughter of RICHARD ORION HOPKINSON and JEANNIE WATT ROBERTSON of Waterville, Quebec. She was born in 1892 and married WARREN GALE of Waterville, Quebec.

Somehow they landed in Mexico City for 25 years and had two children, ROBERT and MARGARET 'PEGGY' GALE.

Here are some notes from PEGGY GALE. I lived in San Miguel de Allende for about 10 years and began to start genealogy research while there.

NOTES FROM PHONE CONVERSATION WITH MARGARET -PEGGY- GALE circa 1988 while I was living in San Miguel de Allende, GTO., Mexico.

Her parents WARREN and VERA MARGARET HOPKINSON GALE lived in Mexico City for 25 years and lived on Londres Street.

They belonged to the Mexico City Golf Club and were very much into the Diplomatic Community Social scene.

WARREN GALE was a mechanical engineer with THE AMERICAN BOOK AND PRINTING COMPANY and she has 4 match box patents (Mexican) in his name. (offered to send them but never received)

WARREN and VERA were friends of ANNE MORROW and CHARLES LINDBURGH and VERA flew with LINDBURGH in 1927. They were also friends of KATY and JACK SPEARS. They had to return to Canada because of WARREN GALE's heart condition that could no longer tolerate the high altitude of Mexico City.
