I am looking for the origins of Jose de Padilla and his family who were from Queretaro but migrated to Guadalupe del Paso or Senecu del Paso. Jose was either born in 1641 (possibly 1647)in Queretaro or he migrated from Spain. He was married to Maria Lopez and his known sons were JoseII, Diego, Juan Antonio, Cayetano and Luis. Jose said that he was a Villasenor, a Captain in the army and later, in Guadalupe del Paso, an Alcalde Mayor. A book that is unavailable to me "Los Padilla de Avila" by Palomino may have some information. Muchisimas gracias.
Garay and Zuniga in Queretaro

Hello all,
Seeking any information about the GARAY family in Queretaro State, Mexico. Earliest member we have record of in this area is David Zuniga GARAY (b. 10 Feb 1896). Family legend has it that his paternal grandfather (also Garay) was the (head) blacksmith to the Mexican Army before the Revolution. If anyone has any idea of how to verify this, I'd appreciate knowing.

Probably ZUNIGA is his mother's name, but am searching for verification and linkage.

Also, if anyone has come across these surnames in area research, I would very much appreciate any assistance, especially with regard to birthplaces.

Thanks!

Greg Martin
