I recently received a Mex-Sinaloa-L message that seemed to be originating on this message board; however, I cannot find it here. Among the surnames listed was "Swaste", which I assume to have been a typo and intended to be Suaste. I have noted a Barbara Suaste in the parish records of El Fuerte, and also a Don Pedro Can~ete. Both were in the late 1700's. My ggggrandfather was Antonio Suastegui, married to Maria Ignacia Can~ete and living in Cieneguilla, Sonora in 1811. The earliest registro that I have found for his son, Bartolome Suastegui, shows him as Bartolo Suaste. In various places the names Suaste and Suastegui are interchanged in old records. I cannot be sure which was the form of the name when it first arrived in Sonora. Because Suastegui, Suaste and Can~ete are all rare in the Sonora-Sinaloa area, I would like to look into any occurrences of them there. If anyone has Suaste family in Sinaloa, I would very much appreciate knowing where and when, so that I can search further.
