Hacienda Del Mirador was located near Orizaba,Veracruz county, with a view of Mt. Orizaba and Cofre De Perota. The view to the East went across the mountaintops into the valleys below and all the way to the ocean. The hacienda was about 4 squaremiles, with sugar cane plantations and cattle. This was a huge haciends, and I'm sure there must be some record of it. The diary of my great-great-grandfather tells about the horseback ride to the hacienda. They went first to cascada del barrio nuevo, where they stayed for the night. It took another 2 or three days to get to the hacienda. They had left from Orizaba on 1/1/1861 and arrived on the hacienda on 1/4/1861. The owner of the ranch was actually only a part owner - August HAASE, who was married to a daughter of Gustav STEIN. Gustav STEIN owned another 1/3 of the hacienda, and Sartorius owned 1/3. Sartorius didn't live on the hacienda grounds though, he stayed about 15 minutes from there in a valley.
Can anyone tell me, if this hacienda is still there? Can anyone tell me if any of the families mentioned above are still in the area or what may have happened to them? I sure would like to learn all I can about the hacienda and the people who were there at that time. August HAASE was a relative of my great-great-grandfather. Can anyone please help?
Thank you. Monika
