Jose "Pepe" Gomez Torres, Trovador Yucateco

Quiero encontrar informacion de la vida privada de "Pepe Gomez" Trovador Yucateco( 1901, Guadalajara). Este senor fue mi abuelo que nunca conoci. MI abuela, Maria luisa Cetina, y Pepe Gomez se divorciaron entre los anos 1927-1930. Mi abuela se mudo a Nueva York con sus hijos. Fue deseo de mi Madre, ya fallecida 2 anos, encontrar su padre y que fue de su vida. Solo se que fallecio de cancer en 1958( Merida, Yucatan) y tuvo otra familia despues de mi abuela. Copia de bautizmo, matrimonio o fallecimiento seria muy bueno, fotos, copia de su musica, para poder oir la voz de mi abuelo.

Hi there.

I don't have any information on your great grandparents but a good source that I have used is Familysearch.com.

Good thing is they have both church and civil records for Merida.

Bad thing is that they are not indexed so you have to search manually through the microfich they have up.

Most of the films have indexes for the volume you're looking at. Some are at the front and some are at the end of the book.

I'm looking for my 2nd great grandparents' genealogy. Both of them were Yucatecans from Merida. Zenobio Grant was born between 1860-1880. Juana Santoya was born between 1860-1880 as well. They had two daughters, Francisca and Fermina, that I know of. They moved from Merida to Belize and lived there since until death. Do anyone know those people and their family? How come my 2nd great grandpa had an English surname? Is there a registry in Merida that stores records this far back? Or possibly a Catholic church that they went to? Relative buried there in 1969

I have a relative buried in the "Cemetery General, Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico" 19 FEB 1969. His name is James Perley Hughes and he had a wife by the name of Berta Solis Hughes. Their address was Calle 21 No. 147-A Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico. He was 86 years old at the time of death and was originally from Minnesota and his last residence was Bay County, Florida. There he has a gravestone with a previous wife’s birth and death date on it. His name and birth date is on the headstone, but no death date.

How would I go about finding his burial plot, headstone, if it's still there and an obituary. I had a researcher check Bay County, Florida Obituaries and he is nowhere to be found. I have attached his death certificate from ancestry.com for US Citizens who died outside the country to help aid in this query.

Your suggestions and help is greatly appreciated.

I am a Cetina, My father was born in Oxcuxcab yucatan. As far as I can tell, that family was one of the original families of conquistadors that had claim by the crown of Yucatan. They were responcible for the guerra de castas where many of the churches were burned and thus distroyed bitrh and land records. the name comes from one of the provinces of Spain near Aragon.

Acabo de ver tu mensaje, espero ya tengas respuesta, y si no espero esto te ayude. Tiene tiempo que no veo ninguna actividad directa en la red de la Academia, pero te comento que para mi la persona que mas datos tiene sobre genealogia de Yucatan y la mas activa es Maricarmen, a mi me ha ayudado mucho y siempre atiende toda solicitud de asistencia. Te recomiendo le escribas un mensaje de lo que buscas y estoy seguro te respondera. Ella participa en varios foros,como GenYuc groups, GenMex, etc. ademas de este. A todos los que estamos interesados en la genealogia de Yucatan nos interesaria saber de los inmigrantes alemanes a la peninsula. Le puedes mencionar que la recomende, alternativamente tambien te puedes dirigir a Rossana, quien a su vez tiene parientes en la academia, ella actualmente esta realizando algo relacionado. I have not looked at this message board for some time. Sorry. The del Valle de Regil and the Peón y Cantón families apparently are not the same as those in the Peón del Valle line. I have not been able to discover the ancestors of that family to see where we might fit in. But my bisabuelos were from Merida. Thanks for your message.

We looked at a family tree, That does have a few of the Peon and Del Valle names (maybe it is incomplete), Juan de Peon Cano m. Pilar Contreras, children-Pedro de Peon Contreras (m. Julia de Regil Fajardo my grandmother's aunt) Alfredo Peon de Contreras, Juan de Peon Contreras, Adriana de Peon Contreras, Pilar de Peon Contreras and Jose de Peon Contreras m. Leon de Valle,
and their children were Juan, Ramon, Luiz, Leonor, and Jose Peon Del Valle.

The whole stories of the families ZEIDLER, BLUM and their connection to the NOVELO family are included in my publication "How I found ancestors and living relatives after more than a century of separation" that in Spanish would be "Como encontre ancestros y parientes despues de mas de un siglo de separacion" It was published in the spring issue 2010 by Avotaynu . The publication contains information about other immigrant families.

His father was Bibiano Cornejo of Chihuahua, Mex and had two half brothers Augustine and Basilio Munoz who were born in Chihuahua, Mex but emigrated to Calif. in 1917 with thier mother Valentina Munoz. Venacio has a brother who Juan Cornejo and lives in Juarez, Mex and is alive today. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Este tema agarró mi curiosidad ya que el nombre de mi padre es Ramón y el apellido de mis abuelos eran Duran y Caballero. No conozco mucho de la niñez de mi padre solamente que quedo huérfano a muy temprana edad y que nació en Yucatán Mérida. ¿Como cuantos anos calcula que pueda tener Ramón? Hey, I been trying to find more of my grandfathers Spanish ancestry.

My grandfather was born in Merida Yucatan as Juan Enriquez Barrera and married my grandmother Obdulia Lezama who was born in Tabasco Mex. but moved to Merida in her youth.

I was told we have Spanish Family/ancestors in Spain and would like to find out more.

All I have is that my Great Grandfather was Juan Enriquez Rosado and was born in Lerida,Spain. He was a doctor and
moved to Merida Yucatan in the early 1900's . He married my great grand mother which last name was Barrera.

If anyone has any info let me know thanks.

Who is your mother? And I'm looking for Carlota del Valle Regil who married Miguel Peón y Cantón. Are they anywhere in your family? Your grandparents and I discussed this and we were told by a chronista that my carlota may be part of your family.
