She enjoyed reading, creative writing, going for long walks with the dogs and visiting with those she met. She also enjoyed crewel embroidery, baking, working in her vegetable and flower garden, listening to music and traveling with the family. She was a supporter of many human, animal and environmental concerns.
Survivors include her mother of Arlington; a sister, Nancy Hagelberg-Cummings of Arlington; a brother, David Hagelberg of Arlington; a brother, Wayne Hagelberg of Gelden, Colo.; a niece and four nephews; and cousins, an aunt and relatives in Finland.
She was predeceased by her father, who died in 1992.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at home in the gardens she loved.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Manchester Health Services, the Bennington County 4-H Foundation, or the Second Chance Animal Center, through the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, Route 7A, Arlington, 05250.
