Okay, I agree it appeard to say "Hutles Blocks" America. The last word is Blocks, the first has the "H" written over something else before the "utles". Doesn't sound familiar at all.

John Matthew DODDS, age 23 (about 1888)

Father Matthew DODDS, age 61 (about 1850), is employed as coal Hewer Miner.


Using the ages of John's younger brothers, he is found in the 1901 England census for South Shields, Durham. At that time his birth is listed as Wark, Northumberland, England.


1891 England, Greencroft, Annfield Plain, Durham. John M. T. DODD [sic], age 2, born: "America Brittish [sic] Subject". Sister Susan is age 3, born England. Father Matthew age 40, mother Susan age 27 (about 1864)
