Thank you for the information! I have noticed the Tupka/Tupko name in documents from Serbia and Poland. A few years ago a relative of mine showed me a Serbian cartoon that was titled Tupko. It said Tupko means "village idiot". :-D
My great grandparents came to the US in 1907 from the Russian Empire (when Poland and Lithuania were not independent). They spoke Polish and Lithuanian. The story was that my great grandmother was half Lithuanian and half German. My great grandfather was thought to be Belorussian but we aren't sure. It is very possible that he or his ancestors came from somewhere else.
