Wait a minute -- someone HAS to have access to that tree because William M. Whyte's death date has been entered. I doubt that he entered his own death date on the day he passed away.

He's probably not the tree owner -- His daughter is probably the owner.

Have you tried contacting the tree owner? They could either give you a copy OR if they have the tree in another program they could run a relationship report. (Actually, you would want to wait a while re: contacting them. I'm sure they are still grieving.)

Otherwise, all I can think of is entering the data from their tree into a new tree of your own -- and that would take a while! (You wouldn't have to enter everyone, though.)

I looked around the tree a bit and could not find a link between the Whytes and the Thalheimers. :( If there is one, I don't think it's a close one.

Update: i called the Lithuanian Cemetery in Chicago. The death record i posted for Casamir is correct. The one for Ignatz is not. Both of these brothers are buried, next to each other, at the Lithuanian Cemetery in Cook County, Chicago. Ignatz died 13, March 1948. Interestingly, the graves were the financial responsibility of Dan Kissell. They do not have obituaries on file for these men. I posted a query, for you, on a different board looking for obits. So far none have turned up.

I did an article about this as it pertains to WorldConnect...it isn't clear where the poster found the tree...but with WorldConnect a tree is treated like any other personal possession and can be left to heirs or a designated person in a will. Some people just want the tree to remain to be used by others in the future or taken down upon death --- it is up to the owner. If a survivor has the password of course they can manage the tree or update an email contact address. If none of the above is available and the tree is on WorldConnect a Post-em Note can be added to any entry someone wants to update or correct. The above are all reasons I have my trees on WorldConnect as opposed to other locations.

Joan
PS: after my reply has time to be viewed I'm going to move this thread to a more appropriate board...it isn't relevant to USA General.

I don't think anyone manages a tree if the owner passes away.

If you post the full names/info I'll see if I can figure out the relationship. There could be a relationship revealed through other trees or other records.

(It's also possible that there is no relationship. I have a tree with thousands of people who aren't necessarily related...)

Yes, identifying the common ancestor is my goal. So far I have not been able to do that.
Here's what I see: a five generation tree with the home/owner person in the 4th generation. The member I search for will show a branch with a couple of generations, but no connection with the home person's tree.
Unfortunately the owner/home person passed away in March so I don't know who to contact for more information.
Who manages a tree when owner has passed away?
Thanks for your response.
Bill

Here's a free "cousin" calculator:

http://www.searchforancestors.com/utility/cousincalculator.h...

You must identify their common ancestor first.

Note: If they are only related through marriage, then identify the common ancestor of their spouse. They would then be "Wife of x cousin etc." or "Husband of x cousin etc."

Hello,

I am trying to track down the American side of my family, who emigrated to the USA approx 1910. They were a family from Whitehaven, Cumberland (now Cumbria), and are actually from a village called Moor Row, just outside the city. While I do not have the information in front of me right now, at least two of them (John Bryan and Albert Bryan) were living in Flint, Michigan by the 1920s.

One brother, Thomas Bryan (1893-1917), fought in WW1 for the Canadian Infantry. He is buried at Loos cementary. He is listed on the Egremont WW1 memorial in Egremont, Cumbria.

As a tradition, first born boys tend to be called William.

My Great Grandfather was George Henry Bryan. He was one of 15 children, and was born in 1892 in Moor Row.

If this information is causing you to sit up in your chair, then I would love to hear from you. My family is very interested to get back in contact with the descendants.

From what we know, contact with the original immigrants and the descendants was last in the 1960s, when a letter was recieved saying that a relative was coming back from Vietnam. I am not sure whether the family had moved to other states by then.

If you are a Bryan, know a Bryan who is researching their family tree, or think you can help us track down the other Bryans, then I would love to hear from you.

Robyn

My reply (and research) disappeared when I tried to post it.

John and Albert were living in Detroit, Michigan with an apparent sister: Sarah Hannah, married name GAYTHWAITE. She was born about 1891 in Moor Row, according to a 1937 ship passenger list. She and her daughter Margaret, born Cleaton (if memory serves me right), were returning to the US from England.

John and Albert were listed as single, with no children living with them, in the 1940 Michigan census.

I'll continue to trace Sarah and Margaret for descendants.

Beth
not related

Andrew had two brothers and a sister. Laurence, William and Mary. All remained in Ireland and I have their details. After Andrew arrived in America all contact was lost. At one time a neighbour said that he met Andy and that Andy was going out west. Thank you for replying to me.

Wanting to know if anybody has any information or connection to the Lederer family of Ausch/As Austria/Bohemia. Not sure if they are actually from the area, just know that one family member, Anna Lederer, was born there in 1880/1881 before moving to America. Thanks!

So...after all, you do know all about her family, and where she fits into your family tree?

I have her placed in the family tree but I am very concerned about her being there without any hard facts. The only living relatives are in their late 70s and 80s and know nothing about her. The only person who has any recollection of her name has dimentia problems, which doesn't help!
