My 3x grandfather A.W. Elmer was born in N.Y. in 1827.His wife Mary elizabth Freshwater was born Sept. 29 1828 in New Bern N.C.They had 5 children all born in New Bern. Mary died in NY in 1863 ,A.W. died also in N.Y. in 1865,The 2 boys were found much later Charles(b.1855)on a farm as a boarder out west. George W.(b.1850)went to Japan at the age of 14 or 15 and stayed for more than 30 years as a misionary.He was my 2x grandfather. The three girls have never been found.Martha b 1848 ,Hellen b.1851 and Mary b.1853.Do any of you have the 'girls' in your trees? Could they have been on the 'ORPHAN TRAINS'??? I need your help . P S /I can not find A.W.'s parents or siblings.
