Les Contamines is a commune in the Haut-Savoie, Rhone-Alpes. In Southwest Louisiana Records, the earliest mention is Joseph Sorrel la Contamine, who witnessed a baptism in 1795, St. Mary Church. After that, he is listed as: Joseph Contamine Sorrel. This Sorrel was buried in the family cemetery of Mr. Pellerin at Chitimachas. The Indian Chitimachas Trail runs along Bayou Teche.

Sorrel, Joseph Contamine, born St. Laurent du Pont, Departement de L'Isere, died 5Jul1820, age 56.

I can do some Delphin family research if you wish.
