Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Sanford Monson, 87 widow of the late James L. Monson, were held Monday afternoon at the Whaley Funeral Home conducted by Rev. George Ammerman. Burial was in Battle GRove Cemetery.
Pallbearers selected were Dr. Richard T. McMurty, George, Paul, James Allen and RogerAbel Monson and Raymond Works Jr.
Mrs. Monson died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 1954, at Harrison Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Aug. 6, 1950.
A native of Nicholas County, Mrs. Monson was born March 2, 1867, a daughter of the late Jerome and Sarah Elizabeth Knight Sanford. Her father was a native of Sumner County, Tenn., and her mother was born in Bourbon County. She was a member of the Falmouth Christian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Walden, Cynthiana; four sons, George Monson, Campbellsville; Allen Monson, Greensburg, Paul Monson, Lebanon and Sanford Monson, Paris; one sister, Mrs. Frank Conway, Millersburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 12. 1923.
