CAMPBELL, OH – Mr. Arrilous Beachman Sr. departed this life Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mr. Beachman was born July 29, 1923, in Louisville, Alabama, a son of Victoria Helms and Johnny Calhoun Beachman.
He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and Medal of Honor.
He later attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama and was formerly employed as a steelworker for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, retiring after 36 years of loyal service.
He was a former member and Master Masons of Pride of Campbell Lodge and faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Campbell.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 66 years, Ollie J. White Beachman; three daughters, Hazel Howell of Michigan, Geraldean (Thomas) Lomax and Sylvia (Chester) Nelms of Youngstown, Ohio; three sons, Arrilous Jr. (Michelle) Beachman of Youngstown, Leon (Patricia) Beachman of Alamogordo, N.M., and Melvin Beachman of Campbell, Ohio; a son-in-law, Sylvester Howell Jr.; a brother, David Beacham of Dothan, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and a host of relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Willie, Quincy, Raymond, Jimmel, and John D. Beacham; two sisters, Essie Mae Newman and Rosanna Skipper; his granddaughter, Faleecha Howell; a great-granddaughter, Christina Howell; a great-grandson, Ronard Howell; and two great-great-granddaughters, Ebony Howell and Kyra Tensley.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
