Very interested in Ransom Martin. I am thinking Simeon Baxter Martin who was also listed in Pike County, AL in 1850 is his son. Simeon was one year older than John F Martin who was listed in Barbour County, AL in 1850. Simeon B along with a R.(Robert, I believe) D. Martin (b. ca. 1826, GA) were in Ouichita County, Ark in 1860 and 1870.

The reason I am interested in this family is my father has a Y-DNA match to decendant of Simeon B. Martin. Due to the marker match there is a great chance of relationship 4-8 generations back (even greater further back, but even 4-8 generations is a good percent chance).

What I find is Ransom Martin was born ca. 1787 in North Carolina and apparently went to Georgia then Alabama. My line, Francis Martin, was born ca 1766, NC and went to SC then to MS. I don't know where he was born in NC or where he went in SC. I am thinking SC in Georgetown District (first choice) or Edgefield. If my Francis used a naming pattern, his parents would be John and either Rhoda or Nancy.

Any suggestions/help in making this possible connection would be greatly appreciated.
