Abel K. Harris was born in South Carolina in about 1802 and came to Perry Co. in 1826. He purchased land in Bibb county in the 1830's and lived near the present day intersection of Bear Creek Road (Co. Hwy 1) and Duff Road, a couple of miles west of Brent.

He was married to Emeline Woolley in 1834 in Perry County and had one son, Robert Spring Harris, b. in 1836.

Harris owned sizable acreage in T23N R8E in Sections 25 and 36 in Bibb County. When he died in 1870, the property was taken over by his son Robert until they gave up the farm and went to Texas in the mid 1870's.

I am looking for any information on where Abel K. Harris may be buried. He was good friends with the Avery family who lived nearby, but there is no published record of a Harris grave in the Avery Cemetery. Similary I have looked at published grave lists for Duff Cemetery, Elam Cemetery, and Friendship Cemetery. Although Weldon Cemetery is nearby, I cannot find a burial list or know if it is the right vintage.

Can any Bibb Message Board participants suggest where I might find this information?
