I have some information on David Philip Pruett. His name might be also spelled David Philips Pruett, or David Phillips Pruett. He is my great grandfather. My grandfather, Mealing Eugene Pruett (1910-1982) is Harwood Rosser Pruett's older brother.
My grandmother wrote down some of the ancestry. Apparently David Philips (?) Pruett was adopted by the Pruett family. Mealing Eugene Pruett (1847) was wealthy and childless. David Philips (?) came from a family of 10 children (Philips family) and they were unable to care for him. The Pruetts' adopted David and he took their name. I do not know how old he was at this time.
Unfortunately I don't know any more about it. I'm so far unable to find the Philips' ancestry.
I am also not able to find any information on Henrietta Adams. I have heard rumors in our family that she is related to John and John Quincy Adams, but I have not found anything yet. David met her on a ship to Africa on his first job as a doctor. Henrietta was the daughter of the captain of the boat. They lived in Kinston, Alabama and had 6 children. Henrietta died shortly after giving birth to twins. David remarried 6 weeks later (at Henrietta's request) to Edna Willis and had 6 more children.

There's one child left off the list of children of J W D Jelks and Jane Goodrum Frazier ... his name was Robert C. Jelks.

Does anyone know what the C in Robert Jelks' name stands for? I know the middle name of three of the four Jelks children ... would love to know what Robert's middle name was.
Dr. James Thomas Jelks
Gov. The death certificate indicates he was buried in Union Springs.

I find indication from Find-a-Grave that JWD Jelks, Robert Green Wright, Jane Goodrum Frazier are all buried at Old Union Church Cemetery in High Ridge, AL (south of Union Springs). It is likely that Robert C. Jelks was buried there as well??

Robert C. Jelks married Willie S Cowan, daughter of Dr. William L. Cowan and Anna Silva Pugh.
Willie was born about 1850 and died Dec 25, 1885 in Atlanta, GA. She was buried at Fairview Cemetery in Eufaula, AL on her father's plot. Hers is the only tombstone on the plot. The sad event occurred at No. 311 Peachtree street, December 25th, at 4:30 a.m. This most estimable lady was Miss Cowan of Eufaula, Ala. January 18th, 1883, she married Mr. R. G. [sic] Jelks, of Atlanta, at her home in Eufaula, and came to Atlanta to live, her husband being a member of the firm of England, Jelks & Tappin. Yesterday her remains were buried in the family burying ground at Eufaula. The deceased leaves three sisters and one brother to mourn her untimely death. He sisters are Mrs. R. A. She was a niece of Linton [sic] Pough [sic], of Alabama, and for several years lived at Union Springs. During her residence in Atlanta, she made many warm friends who became attached to her on account of the loveliness of her character, and these, with her friends in Alabama, will read with much regret of the news of her death.

Jim Freeman found the following on microfilm at the AL Archives on our 2004 trip
The Union Springs Herald, January 6, 1886, p. 3, col. 2 Died
Another white soul has gone to join the radiant hand above.
Glad to have helped. Google Alabama Maps 1850. There is a university site that has many of the old maps of the area. You can find them for counties and state. Some of them have the old names.
There is a Greenwood Church north of Hector on CR 7 just before it intersects with HWY 110 below the Fitzpatrick community. Contact the Alabama Department of Transportation and ask for a county map of Bullock it will help you tremendously. This area was originally a part of Pike Co.

I compared maps from 1850, 1863,66, & 70. It appears that this area started out in Pike Co. until Bullock was created. It is so very close to the Montgomery line that I would suggest researching Pike first and then if you don't find what you are looking for go to Montgomery. Hope this helps. Oak Grove cemetery is now located on HWY 82. It is marked on the Bullock Co. Rd. map. T13, R21 S. 5. The library at Union Springs may have a census of the cemetery. If not contact Troy Library Genealogy Dept.
Melis.
My posts were regarding Henrietta Myra "Hettie" Raborn b. 1862 d 1942 who married Malcolm Petterson Cade. Their son Malcolm b 1891 d 1943 m. Beulah McClendon. Hettie Raborn Cade was a sibling of my husband's grandmother, Mary Lula Raborn Leslie. Several years ago I did quite a bit of research on our Raborn family and we made quite a few trips to Union Springs. As a matter of fact, we had a Leslie family gathering there last year and visited Oak Hill Cemetery. Mary Lula and her husband, John Daniel Leslie, and 3 of their children are buried there, also. We have also visited the Sardis Cemetery where some of the Cades are buried. I did not do a lot of indepth research on Malcolm P. Cade's family at the time, but I do have a good bit that was relevant to Mary Lula Raborn Leslie. I'd be happy to share our information if you'd like to email me at esleslie at bellsouth.net - Evelyn S. Leslie

I need help also on Mr. Pruett. I do have info on a Katie Pipkin but she is African American.
Not sure of Pruett's first name but in Midway, Alabama, Bullock County, my Granddaddy Ike Ivery was in a book with Mr. Pruett. It was a 1908 Assessement Record. It recorded everything my Granddaddy owned and his worth. He is African American. He's in the book that is big and long, I had to walk with it. Says, he was living on Pruett Place. I was wondering did your Granddaddy keep records and would you be able to find out how long my Granddaddy stayed on the property? Was he working for him or just renting? A lot of unanswered questions. Also one of his wive's got married on my Mr. Finney's plantation in Midway. Can't seem to find Mr. Finney either, even tho' he is listed on the Marriage License for 1875. Can you help me with the Pruitt Records and why was he so prominent? Why was Poppa staying with him?
